Mark Posted October 23 Posted October 23 I've got to figure out the color information on that first version. It would look like an easy layup with a reissue AMT 'Vette and any of a number of decent FE Ford engines. Ollie Olsen's Willys (the as pictured version) would make a neat project too. That car was recently found; it later underwent a lot more modifications (body sectioning among them) and not much of it is left. The early version with the independent rear suspension and unique hood scoops is pretty cool. 1
Dragline Posted October 24 Posted October 24 I watched that this morning! That car was/is a wonder of current (at the time) thinking at every iteration. Great car and story. 1
Chris V Posted October 25 Posted October 25 (edited) What an amazing story! It's interesting to see how crudely some modifications were sometimes carried out even on prestigious high-dollar builds, like the hogged out rear wheel wells on this and Big John Mazmanian's '61 Corvette. R. Thorne Posted October 26 Posted October 26 All of Brian Lohnes’s stuff are interesting and about as honestly factual as it gets. Required viewing for students of drag racing history. Some intriguing tractor stuff, too. 1
