Simo5555 Posted October 26 Posted October 26 Well, hello again Firebird is done. So i've got some spare room on my workbench (yeah right, i don't have a workbench.....) to start another build. Felt like its a good time to do another American legend - the C3 Corvette. Kit itself is from Revell's. Like always, i'll probably go for an out of the box build, but with some of my own twist added to it. Haven't decided yet about the paint. It definitely won't be the pace car colors. Lets see how this one goes Simo. 3
Monty Posted October 27 Posted October 27 I love me some C3 Corvettes, having owned an '80 for 20 years. Can't wait to see this build get underway.  1
Simo5555 Posted Sunday at 06:16 PM Author Posted Sunday at 06:16 PM So, lets begin then. It's been long enough without updates. Decided i'm going to build this one as stock as possible. I like how the bodylines flow on this model so i won't glue the spoilers on. I think leaving them off, gives it a bit cleaner look. One thing i hated about this kit is the front daylight(?) running lights. They're molded into the bumper and the instructions calls for painting them. I don't like it. So i grabbed my trusty old drill and went to town! After that, i cut the part out with my hobby knife Looks a bit neater already Will try to create some lights into those sockets later. Also did some painting on the interior tub and the engine. I know the engine is supposed to be teal blue on the 1:1 car, but i decided for bright red. I just like the look of it a bit more. 2

Is there a chrome trim or just a rubber seal where the window slides into the door?
gtx6970 Posted Monday at 04:08 PM Posted Monday at 04:08 PM Very cool. I wasn't aware Revell did this particular car  I have a soft spot for a 1978 Vette. and a part of me would like to own one, Preferably a pace car. Actually came real close to own a silver annv car about 18 months ago. But it was an L48 car and I really wanted an L82 car., Plus I would much prefer a black/Silver pace car 1

There is also a smaller one on the top of the inside door panel.

But have never regretted traning in my 79 El Camino SS to get this one.
Simo5555 Posted Tuesday at 07:15 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 07:15 PM I'm definitely not good at scrapbuilding, but heres how one can get a set of lights to their Corvette. Step 1: Tape the hole and trace it with pencil Step 2: Cut out the template from the tape and stick it to some scrap headlight lens Step 3: Cut and shape......cut and shape..... until it fits into the hole Step 4: repeat the step 3 on the other side Step 5: Glue some scrap pieces to the other side Aaaand you have a bumper ready for lights In my opinion, it looks a lot better than just painted on headlights (Or are they daylight running lights? Or maybe blinkers? I'm not even sure)Â 2
Monty Posted Tuesday at 07:21 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:21 PM They're turn signals. This is a '76, but it's pretty much the same. Go to 1:57 to see them work.  2
