71 Chevy Nova-My First Car

Hey all! A few years back when many companies release Chevy Nova Kits, I decided to replicate my first car. I purchased a "Jimmy Flintstone" resin body and rally strip decals online. At the time AMT came out with the 72 Chevy Nova SS (Old Pro). This was used as the donor kit. Although my car was not a 72 or an SS it was close enough for my project. My Nova was a 1971, 350 ,2 barrel, 3-speed, single exhaust. In 1972 gas was about 36 cents per gallon. By 1973 it jumped to 55 cents per gallon. At that point a lot of muscle cars went bye-bye. Your Nova looks great!

My first car was this 66 Mustang! And, of course, I built a model of it (along with a model of a 75 Mustang II I owned)!

Both of you did a great job replicating your first cars.  I've tried to locate a model of my first car (1981 Pontiac Sunbird) to no avail.

Nice work! My mother bought a 71 Nova new. It had a 307 with a two barrel.Auto trans and it was classic copper with a black vinyl top and tan vinyl interior.I plan on doing building a version of her car at some point.My first car was a 79 Z/28 with a factory 4-speed trans that I plan to build a replica of at some point too.

Jim- Those are some sweet rides! Very clean! Did you keep them? It would be hard to give up those classics.

Scott-It would be great to see more Novas and/or your Z/28!
