I have a growing collection of model vehicles, boats and airplanes: some static, some toys and some R/C

I will have to post pictures of them all someday.

I have decided to give up model building. I just gave away a couple hundred dollars of model kit/hobby stuff on craigslist. I just cannot have an absolute dust-free environment for airbrush painting. Dust particles ruin my paint job attempts each and every time. I started this hobby five years ago but shelved it for a long time. I just got a new German shepherd puppy boy in June and he's been my top priority. I'm too busy these days with other pursuits like my tending to dog, training my dog to catch frisbees, bicycle riding for health and collecting curio items for display.

How many here collect die-cast models and R/C models/toys?  Many die-cast models/toys these days are made in China and have many plastic parts.  Some can be quite expensive.

I just received a model New Ray Volvo loader today that was advertised as 1/64th scale but my measurements with a ruler, calculations with data on the full-size tractor indicate it is more like 1/59 scale. I have an advertised 1/64 Kenworth W900 trailer truck with travel axle lowboy on the way. The Volvo loader will be its cargo. I also ordered 1/64 scale wide load/oversize load yellow signs as well. Additionally, I ordered a Corgi vintage Greyhound bus, GMC Super Scenicruiser, in 1/50 scale that listed for $100.

For the red/black Kenworth tractor, I plan to make 'Barrow Trucking' scale magnetic door signs and put vehicle admin numbers (25) on the chrome air-filter canisters. OVERSIZE LOAD signs on front and rear.

I collect all scales of die cast but mostly 1/18.  I also recognize that painting is the hardest part of model building but I'm just happy with the 'poor' or not so poor results.  It's much easier to just collect die cast.  But it can be pretty expensive too.  Many of mine are over $100 a piece.

That Kenworth rig of mine is a 1;64 scale. DCP First Gear. (Kenworth W900L w/ 72" AeroCab Sleeper and Landoll 440B-50CA Traveling Axle Trailer Diecast 1:64 Scale Model - DCP 60-2034155) new with shipping. The KENWORTH badges on the nose are so small it takes a magnifier to read them.  I'm making oversize load boards for this rig right now, front and rear.

The Greyhound bus of mine ($106 with shipping) is a 1:50 scale Corgi Scenicruiser from the 1950's. Made by General Motors.  GMC PD-4501. The Greyhound Scenicruiser was an iconic, two-level intercity bus built by General Motors from 1954–1956, designed by Raymond Loewy. It was known for its distinctive deck-and-a-half design, luxurious interior for its time, and panoramic windows, which offered passengers exceptional views of the highway. The bus was a major part of American culture, in service until the late 1970s and still popular today with collectors and enthusiasts
