Scott Eriksen Posted November 29 Posted November 29 This is probably the most fiddly kit I've ever done,,,lol but anyway its a tribute to the Schwinn I had,,I didn't have the "Krate" version with the springer front though. Mine was blue with the white pearlescent banana seat .I stripped off all the kit chrome and used Revell chrome topped with Spaz Stix Clear for chrome . I hit the frame with a can of Mopar B5 Blue touch up I had then 2K clear over that. Banana seat is Tamiya Pearl White with 2K clear, might have it done this weekend 5
mcs1056 Posted November 30 Posted November 30 That is really cool. A buddy in my youth had one. I couldn't afford one, so I ended up with a single speed, coaster brake Sears "Spyder," which was their version of the Stingray. I did just score a Chicago Stingray Fairlady for $50 (it came with two other Chicago Schwinn 10-speeds). I got it to restore for my "due-in-January" granddaughter. However, she will be years away from riding it. That, plus the banana seat can sell for $200 in its current condition. I mean...I'm gonna love that kid, but $200 for one part??? 2
BK9300 Posted Saturday at 07:34 PM Posted Saturday at 07:34 PM I'm betting lots of memories came back while building this bike - looks pretty good! 2
Nolan Posted Monday at 04:04 AM Posted Monday at 04:04 AM Awesome build, that brings back a bunch of memories for me as well. Great memories, even the skinned knees, elbows, and the missing tooth from learning landing no-hands wheelies probably should have hands on the bars. LOL! Nolan 2
Mr. Don Posted Tuesday at 06:04 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:04 PM What a memory provoking kit! Best friend had one, I had a tank of a Sears family friendly hand me down. A sports car for kids! Thanks for posting! Don 1
