Technics Posted November 29 Posted November 29 Started 2006 Completed motor + interior 2020 Aim to finish 2026 Backstory Bought in Tokyo while living and on internship at Toyota design. Age 21, no smart phones, minimal internet, at least compared to today. Life forming experience, Forever grateful. Inspiration During study, work, play, I consume countless hours of YouTube media. One of which for a number years was from drifter and vlogger named Nori Yaro. I decided to use him and his beer can Nissan skyline as the theme for inspiration. Progress I worked on (de)forming the body, began opening the front grill, rear lamp area, holes on the body. This project was first green, then primer for 20 years. It had a 06 sticker applied on the side to date stamp it 2006 which I left on and misted primer over and then removed. There’s a residue and a colour difference which I kinda dig. I will likely be painting it the classic skyline colour with some metal or rust spots. A learning canvas of a reliably available kit but has been with me for half a lifetime. When I re started this kit but stopped in 2020 I bought a secondary skyline to replace some of the parts that have gone missing. I am unsure if I will use it as doner or not. It could be a perfectly nice build of its own. Just want to finish what I started here and am brave enough to try this time around. On the interior I tried to have it mimick leather in no particularly special way but the scheen of the paint, and make it tidy as possible. 9

Technics Posted Wednesday at 06:48 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 06:48 PM (edited) @meechum68 Thanks buddy! I painted it in a metal finish, followed by wet sanded it back down #1500. I sort of dug the look already feeling it was different enough as a base maybe try out some clear paints on top. I was going to leave it but then found a reference image which changed my project direction. I shot the top half of the project in titan gold with a drop of titan silver in purposefully leaving about half of the car still metal gradient like. I was so inspired by the reference imagine that I feel I have to follow through to some degree and let it influence me. I already quickly tried the fenders which are came from the revell rx7 kit and they fit nearly perfectly. So I’m going to do something two tone and inspired by this crazy thing. I don’t have any clear parts so well see if I crack open my spare kit or if I make it work with a bit more sleeper rat style with nets / cage / rough “lexan” windows only?
