Mr. Don Posted yesterday at 07:36 AM Posted yesterday at 07:36 AM Sometimes a unique project comes along. A few weeks back I was told to make a tree trunk. A prop to be used in a courtroom lawsuit. -a fatal accident had happened. I work at a place that most of the time, we’re making concept cars, or prototypes of something. But they had bid on this interesting job. And it was fun for a few days. This is an eight foot long, trunk. About 9” in diameter. 8 pound urethane foam. I took 2 days to sculpt, a hour to work an auto primer into the surface. -and a day or so to paint. 1
Mr. Don Posted yesterday at 07:48 AM Author Posted yesterday at 07:48 AM Most folks think of a model as a miniature. But this is an example of a 1:1 scale model. And larger scale models of course can be made. I have long wanted to make a giant airbrush. Maybe a flea? Back to cars for now. On my workbench are a Bugatti type 35, and a Ford 1931 model A, pickup. Mr. Don Posted yesterday at 02:24 PM Author Posted yesterday at 02:24 PM Hello, I forgot to mention that I had been given “crime scene” photos to work from. -so this is sort of a portrait of a specific tree, not just my musings of a generic tree. They didn’t want leaves, which would have helped to create the image that I would,(wood), have liked, and would definitely been included in stage dressing, had this been part of a movie set. Also, I forgot to mention, that since this kind of project only comes once a year for me, and being “Not the Norm” for our Engineering lead company, -in the work order for me, was the stipulation to “have fun”! I did!
BK9300 Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago That’s an awesome creation, in such a short time. Regardless of the medium, or subject matter, very well done! 1
