Wickersham Humble Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago Comet products sold this Bonneville-type 1/24 racer in the late 'fifties; there is one on eBay, but... very spendy, for me. I had one, barely recall it now, but still have one wheel and tire (sorta' slot mag, with real rubber Firestone Super Sports profile tire) and a decal set only in my stash. I wonder if any glue-bomb examples are out there, available for trade? It was a rear-engine bubble-canopy type LSR-style car, in white plastic; the box art looks very like the more available Monogram "Firebolt" string racer, jet powered with either Jetex pyrotechnic engine, or a CO2 cartridge, either of which were certain to result in a destroyed model kit in no time at all. I know; we tried it with the Jetex once, and a handful of partially-melted, partially shattered plastic was our big result. Oh well, the dream of youth... ! The Panther was battery powered, like so many motorized kits of that era, and apparently came with the electric motor, etc. Not all did; my Strombecker 1/24 Reventlow "Scarab" kit was set up for a motor and batts, but they were optional at extra cost. I'd be interested in sourcing a 'Panther' but not for a C-note, alas. Alternately, I have the two parts available... Wick
