Captain Obvious Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 (edited) Have the week off from work (involuntarily...), so I figured I'd try to knock this one out during the week. The kit: The paint: The rolling stock: No real progress to show as of yet...the chassis is almost finished being detail-painted, the interior components are sprayed basic flat black, and the body is primed with a couple minor spots to repair. The body was pretty warped, so I spent a few minutes with a sink of hot water trying to straighten it out...epoxy will have to finish the job for me I think. Should have actual progress pics up tomorrow night...stay tuned! Edited June 4, 2009 by Captain Obvious
Captain Obvious Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 Finally, a few pics to share... Paint is more pink in person than I could capture in pics. I still need to give the paint a quick polish, then add another coat or two of color, then polish again, then clear, then polish, before adding the black fender tops and decals. Engine is waiting on exhaust manifolds to dry before they are installed and transmission painted, hence no engine pic yet. And no interior pic, because it is just basic black with little detail added, so nothing to see really. I am going to try to drop the ride height another .5 to 1 scale inch. Gas tank is covered with BMF and is probably too shiny to be realistic, but I like it and hey, that's what this hobby's about, right?
RodneyBad Posted June 3, 2009 Posted June 3, 2009 Gas tank is covered with BMF and is probably too shiny to be realistic, but I like it and hey, that's what this hobby's about, right? Yup, Like BurgerKing. Have it your way. It's your build, your way. Did ya make the wheels Steerable or just posed that way? So that's Electric Pink? Thought it'll be Pinker. maybe I'm thinking more Panther Pink. If I didn't know it was painted, I'd think it was molded that color, Nice painting. Looking good. Like the wheels.
Captain Obvious Posted June 3, 2009 Author Posted June 3, 2009 Wheels are just posed in position...when I drilled them out to fit the kit mounting points, they had some play, so I figured "Why not?"...lol Paint looks like a metallic Panther Pink in person...in pics it looks more salmon-colored. I'll try to get some sunlight pics tomorrow.
Captain Obvious Posted June 4, 2009 Author Posted June 4, 2009 Engine and exhaust installed... I tried taking a pic of the body outside this afternoon, but it still looks too salmon-colored in pics....must be my camera settings. Will try again tomorrow.
