I picked up an AMT Texaco trailer, not a bad little kit. I built it completly stock and would like to build a tractor for it since a friend of mine collects Texaco items. Any Idea what their set up was as far as truck/color?

Thanks

Tim

here are a couple shots of it hitched up to my International, (I didn't get it out into the sunlight for a good pic yet)

Any cabover or conventional prime mover would do I don't think it really matters especially not here in Australia anyway.

Thanks guys,

I will prolly use an old 359 daycab, don't know if I can pull off that paint job though <_<

I painted my tanker White, because I thought I remember seeing them as White not alluminum or chrome, am I not remembering correctly?

What's goin' on...

A 359 Peterbilt w/ 32 Ford Street Rod head lights would look good or an R-Model Mack. I think you should tie in some colors from the decals to the truck would look good. Paint the chassis matt black, the cab a semi gloss or gloss black w/ subtle weathering w/ a red stripe wrapping the cab. Make the stripe between an 1/8 - 3/16 inch and have it just below the hood line directly below the pass/drivers window. IF you could find some more Texaco decals cut out the small logos using them for door decals on the cab then add your DOT compliance numbers and unit numbers. White BUDD rims on the drives and aluminum rims on the steer axle. On some tanker yankers they're equipped w/ a pump used for on/off loading the fuel/oil to the trailer. That would be cool to do. I built a 359 w/ a scratchbuilt pump/pto and used a 25th scale car driveshaft.

There is already a nice rig in your pictures!!!

The trailer is outstanding.

Of course, it would looked really nice hooked on a 377 or a 378 day cab PETERBILT. Also the old Italeri FREIGHTLINER should be nice with your trailer.

Since Texaco was a "Jobber" orented company, they actually used several different cabs. Gee, the Mack R, the Kenworth, hey Even a G M C Astro 95 has pulled a tank of Texaco product in it's day. I guess depending upon the manufacturer of the tank , Aluminum is always good with apperoperate signage . I dont recall polished aluminum tanks from Hiel or other major manufacturers though. Thanks again guys,

I think the 359 wins out on this one (since I already have a spare kit) Scott, I like your ideas, though I might go with a red cab and black striping/matt black frame. I saw a guy selling the Texaco decals for it on Ebay, though he wanted $10 for a set.
