Neil Woolway Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 Hi all first of many silly questions i would expect. Can you tell me what is the best way to go regarding painting my model. Someone briefly metioned about it in my first post that i should use spray paint, i take it they mean small cans like the airesol variety. Or do you think i should go for one of those cheaper airbrushes i take they use the pots of paints, although this method is quite an expensive start i and dont know if i will keep the hobby up (depends how i get on ). Also when painting do i spray on primer fist (how many coats, and how long between coats), then spray paint, then do i use a clear finish spray. Thanks

Harry P. Posted July 5, 2009 Posted July 5, 2009 If you're just starting out and aren't sure if you'll want to continue on, I'd say definitely stick to the aerosol cans for now. If it turns out you want to pursue the hobby further you can always move up to an airbrush at any time. Very basically: Primer, color coats, then clear (if you want to). And to avoid any sort of bad interactions, keep all the paints (primer, color and clear) within the same brand. You can mix and match, and many people do... but at this point you're just starting out, so why over-complicate things?
