FujimiLover Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 In case I ever get around to building a classic Hot Rod, most likely a 32 Ford Roadster, I've always visioned a white on white paint job. But, I was wondering, would pearl white show up against plain gloss white? I think it would with the right lighting. I'm imagining a pearl white flame job against a plain gloss white finish. Plus, I've never done a flame job before and was wondering, is it easier to do it with an airbrush whenever I get an airbrush, or can it be done with masking? I would think you can get more realistically flowing flames with airbrush than any kind of masking job. I would love it if somebody would try this and post pics of their process from start to finish. Thank you!
FujimiLover Posted July 12, 2009 Author Posted July 12, 2009 It's always an idea I've had as I sort of like flames, but I don't want it to really grab yea like flames do against a black car. I want it to only show up under certain light. A true ghost paint job, would be you hardly notice it until your close enough to it that the right light hits it and "POW"! I think it would look really cool if done successfully. I'd love to see a pictorial how-to on this subject using these colors. I've had same thoughts about black on black.
MikeMc Posted July 12, 2009 Posted July 12, 2009 (edited) Use pearl flake in clear and your ghost flames will pop you still have to mask as that will give you flowing flames as Brian said... By suspending pearl flakes in clear and shooting over your base you will have ghosts and if you add different colors of flake after clearing you will be amazed!! Edited July 16, 2009 by MikeMc
