Hi folks,

I've got some MCG photo-etch pieces that I want to polish to a chrome finish, but I cant seem to find the right product to polish with. The MCG photo-etch pieces come in a dingy brass-gold color, not chrome. What do you guys use to bring out the chrome shine on these pieces? I thought about alclad over a black base, but I'm afraid the black base will make some of the detail disappear.

Thanks,

LC

MCG photoetch is mostly nickle plated and can be polished with an 8000 or 12000 polishing cloth.

If yours is brass colored, THEN IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE BRASS COLORED. He includes, in certain kits, brass photoetch parts to duplicate gold colored metal pieces on the 1:1 cars.

It might be overkill, but I use Wenol metal polish and my Dremel with a polishing pad to give photo etch a nice shine.

As risky as it might sound I also use a Dremel with a felt polishing pad, but I use Never Dull with it. I have not yet distorted or lost any parts, but being careful is of paramount importance and not always a guarantee. ;)
