spikes Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 (edited) Hey guys. I am new to board and I am building a 1/8 scale 32 deuce roadster from Revell. I use to build models as kid and I am excited about getting back into the hobby and building this hotrod. It was an expensive kit and I don’t want to mess it up. I am going to paint it gloss black and I would like some tips. I want to finish the body in a wet look gloss and get it as flawless as possible. Do I need to prime first? Sand in between coats etc? Do I clear coat? Polishing? I want to be careful no to get to many coats and losing detail. My goal is to detail the kit so it looks real as possible. I want to add leather for seats and door panels etc. The painting part is all new to me. Perhaps you can recommend a brand of paint, sandpaper grit etc and some steps to achieve my goal. If this goes well I may attempt the same model but building as a primed/rusted rat rod. Man I am excited about this! Many thanks in advance. Edited August 5, 2009 by spikes
75deucebuilder Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Welcome to the board spikes. Regarding paint, I normally use plasti-kote or Tamiya, as I find these the best coverage wise,
