old-hermit
We are having a Tri Five Challenge at my model club so I thought a small dio would be cool to do. I started with AMT's 55 Chevy step side pickup and 55 Nomad wagon. Both will be OOB with a few small alterations. The Nomad has a gasser drag option and I'll scratch a tow bar for the pickup. The dio will be a pit scene. I've got till November to finish it so I started on the vehicles first. old-hermit
Thought I had the interiors finished this AM. Pics show everything and I realised the arm rests in the pickup need to be painted. Also forgot the roll bar in the Nomad. I sanded down all the interior panel detail in the Nomad and painted it dull aluminum to simulate aluminum panels. I bought a piece of plywood for the base yesterday but am having second thoughts on a pit scene. Considering a front gate scene or something with a little more detail. I got the pickup finished. Since it will be in a dio and basically a curbside I didn't install an engine or detail the chassis. I found the glass in this kit ill fitting and a pain to install. If you look closely at the rear window you can see my screw up. Heres some eye candy. Just for giggles I opened the wing windows.

old-hermit
When I got into actually building the dio the theme changed radically. It's all about packing everything up, going to the drag strip and finding it closed. Hope y'all like it. PS, I didn't have any skin tone paint so the guy's a little pale. heh heh heh. More pics here. http://public.fotki.com/old-hermits-garage...g-to-the-drags/
