ntrlsur Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Hello all. I am getting back into modeling after about a 15 year break. I came in about 2 weeks ago and said hi in the general area. Now I am getting deep into getting this model built. Well without further ado here are a couple of pics of my progress.. My First coat of paint on the body. I figured since I was going with a red and black theme for this car I would paint the rims as well.. First coat and first try and a 2 tone paint job. Hope it turns out. Any tips or tricks or constructive criticism please pass em along. I can use all the help I can get.
RodneyBad Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 I like the Red lip on the wheels. Painted parts are looking good. For 2-toning the seats. Try priming the seats, Mask off the red area so you don't have to paint it over the black. Or paint the seat red and then paint the black?

I thought the red lip would be a nice contrast to the rest of the exterior being all black. Got the idea from the TV show muscle car. They did a hemi cuda that had red painted lips on black rims. I made the stupid mistake of painting before thinking..... Originally I was going make a 3 tone seat. grey on the headrest a thin red strip under it and then black. But I realized that since its my first build I should take it easy. So I was just going to paint the interior black. Then I decided that 2 tone would be doable and somewhat easy. Thanks for the advise on the 2-tone. Will probally strip it all and repaint it.
