hi, this is my first post, i have been building models for a while now and ive done a few small dioramas and now ive decided to make a big one. (junkyard) i have a few questions about where you guys get all the stuff for them at.

1: where do you get the checkerd flag patterns for floors?

2:where do you get windows?

3:where do you get all the tool chests, benches, cabinets, etc. etc...

4:and where do you get wood small enough? all i got are 2x4's...

i picked up a roll of cabinet liner at a garage sale for 50 cents last summer

that is white/black checkered and looks great

let me see if i have enough to send some out to you

as for windows and tools

keep your eyes peeled on the bay

there are some kits that have both tools and windows in them (i bought one from there with tool boxes, a lift, and walls with a door and windows)

as for wood, find yourself a good local hobby shop

they should carry all that you need as far as wood AND styrene goes

I like to use 1/4in. MDF board for the base and the building walls. You can try scratchbuilding windows using balsa wood and clear plastic which both can be picked at your local hobby store or try using doll house windows. For the floor, though time cosuming but the results are great; paint in on ! Mine isn't any where done but you can get an idea. http://s276.photobucket.com/albums/kk4/reposam/ Some of you tools and counters can also be scrachted.

Here is a link to making scale cabinets. I can't take credit for the idea, as I don't remember who did them. Just follow the pics, and you'll get an idea.

As to your other ?'s, #1. either lay it out and paint it, or find shelf paper.

#2 Window material you can find large sheets of celluloid, or the old report covers we used in school for term papers.

#3 See above.

#4 Use Basswood, not balsa. A little bit more pricey, but better to paint. For your base use a good plywood, that has been sealed (painted)

Hope this helps.
