Sixties Sam Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Wow! Nice job on a beautiful car. I think I had that kit back in the 1960's too, and IIRC I saw the real car at the New York World's Fair in about 1965. I remember also seeing the Chrysler Turbine Car there. I have snapshots buried in a box somewhere. I'll post one if I can find it. Sam Quote
george 53 Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Yeesh Bill, It's about TIME!!!! Man that thing looks GREAT! It's gotta be one of the most difficult kits to build! I got one an I've never even opened it! I remember I tried to build it in the 60's and I didn't have ANY problems with the doors, I just GLUED them bad boys SHUT!!! It came out just BEAUTIFUL! The Color, wheels and stance are PERFECT!!! Quote
camaroman Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Nice job Bill. Can't wait to see what is next! Quote
Daniel Peterson Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Not bad. However I could clearly see a muffler clamp, driver side aft, has not been torqued properly. I should think the rattling at idle would drive you nuts. Quote
RatRod Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 WOW Bill, like others have said, you took a frog, and made a prince!!! Everything about this old kit looks beautiful, and those wheels really make the difference. Quote
Harold Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 How does Bill do it? Like Robert Johnson, did he sell his soul at the crossroads to become a master modeler? Beautiful stuff, Bill. However, now I'm a bit intimidated to drag the one out of my stash and start on it (like I don't already have enough projects cluttering up my workspace.). Quote
crispy Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 I've never seen one built either. Paint work on here is my favorite Bill, and well, the wheels too. Great job. Chris Quote
RodBurNeR Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 very nice and clean Bill! I don't remember seeing another one that looked nicer in my whole life. I think the wheels really sit nicely against that paint too! What's next? How about an old school Kustom? hehe Quote
Pat Cardz Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 What can I say that hasn't already been said, amasing work! Quote

I don't remember seeing another one that looked nicer in my whole life. I think the wheels really sit nicely against that paint too! What's next? How about an old school Kustom? hehe Kustom eh? Would you settle for a nearly box stock build of a '49 Merc? Quote
lonewolf01 Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 that is just awsome. i know you said before but what did you use to do the carpets? Quote
MrObsessive Posted September 9, 2009 Author Posted September 9, 2009 what did you use to do the carpets? Jerry, I used embossing powder which can be picked up at any Arts & Crafts store. It comes in a ton of colors and for something this size in this scale, it gives the carpeting a more in scale appearance than using flocking. Quote
David@MinidreamsInc. Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Man very nice ! You do great things with plastic brother ! Love your work . Quote
Rider Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Beautiful looking build, from the trim work to the paint, simply stunning. The wheels really set it off. Not wanting to high jack this thread I have a question in the General forum re this car. Quote
