Some words about my friend Bud

What a long day, losing someone in your life is never fun. I didn't know what to do with myself and instead of thinking about it all day and bumming myself and everyone around me out....I slept. I actually had a dream about him and it was enlightening.

I only met Bud in person twice, but he was a member here on MCM ,TRaK and a member of Drastic Plastics for 5 years. Many times we emailed and sometimes a phone call.

Bud was always willing to pitch in where he felt comfortable to do so. We did a "feature build" on www.thedpmcc.com a couple of years back where he volunteered to do in progress of a '56 Chevy Nomad he was building for Randal Klein as a replica of his real drag car. The build was interesting and fun to watch and it was all documented on the web site. I have all of the images still and what he wrote about it, but it's been off the site for awhile now. When he completed that car, he had to mail it to Randal in Lincoln, Nebraska but he wanted it to pit stop at my place in case there was damage from shipping I could fix it for him and hand it over to Randal personally. For someone who is so well known and so skilled in this hobby , it was a real honor to handle this for him. The car did arrive damaged , I repaired it and took photos to show him it was being done. Some time before all of that, I was making inquiries about 1/16 scale model kits because I have never built one. I wanted to know what kits were nice and in the line of my interests. I got many responses and one of them from Bud Lefevre. Bud said he had a '55 Chevy project he never finished and wanted my address. I tell ya...that made me feel great! I got the kit as you can see here. ( I have been looking for parts lately because I thought it's about time to get working on it)

He scratchbuilt the rims and he was definately going for a drag car.

Bob Dudek and I went to Bud's house to hang out and eat dinner when the Toledo NNL was going on. Bud always said he was going to take me for a ride in his Malibu and do a holeshot out of the driveway hah! Well...when we visited the car needed some attention and I didn't get my ride but he did start it up and let me inhale it all...wow!

Bud showed his stuff off in his hobby room, he had some very cool projects going that I realize won't be finished now. His wife Ginger is very nice and I spoke to her on the phone recently when I found out he was in the hospital again. I hope she is handling well, I plan to call her soon. I am sure she is getting plenty of calls from family, so I won't bug her right now. My daughter Anissa remembers him and so does my wife Alisha. I told them and they both felt sad to hear the news.

Bud was caring, funny, humble, generous and all around good person.

I guess this is my way of speaking of a good friend. I think I owe him that. He was not just a great modeler....he was a great person.

RIP

One day we will all meet in large numbers again my friend.
