Guest zebm1 Posted December 7, 2006 Posted December 7, 2006 Last nite (12/05/06) ELCAMINOBILLY straightened me out in PSAB chat as to my images not working in tha Poll Question, which perhaps might have made tha posting clearer to yall. Gregg H. would yu please DELETE tha Poll Question - 2nd Try for me. Anyway, I followed Billy's advice and hopefully this works so that yall can see what kinda models we were talking about. This is an exercise in imagination and creativity. The Fantasy is: It's May 2007 and for the 1st time ever, Winged, modified Semi-truck Track racers are going to compete for 80 laps/200 miles at the famous Indianapolis Speedway. The Plan is to start the Competition Jan. 01, 2007 and have pictures submitted by 2 weeks before Carburetion Day at Indy, so we would like to get some kind of an idea as to how many would be interested in this sort of endeavor. As it stands now, there is an Open/Unlimited Class of Racetrucks and a Pacetruck option. The Rules: 1]open class....build it all [super truck or truck...you decide] 2]must be able to make 1 full speed lap with your design 3]at least 6 tires no more than 10 ( or tread width equivalency) 4] engine can be moved to or fro in its intended locale for weight distribution only 5]must be painted and numbered 6]full race interior / roll over protection etc. 7]5th wheel optional 8]chassis and cab must be from the original design [but can be modded] 9]front glass...side nets..rear glass if it came that way 10]exhaust must be below driver 11] fuel cells or tanks in a safe position 12]rear fenders (optional) 13] tires ---what-ever you run....[they run slicks in all positions, so replicate the best way you can] 14]no lights / no parts in an unsafe position i.e. exhaust and intake stacks 15]cab must be stock height but can be dropped down lower on chassis-for truck; super truck is full mods but all trucks must start with stock body and go from there 16]conventionals can have a sloped nose 17] Side pods, front end Valences and wings optional see if its a super truck its balls to the walls...the cab and engine does not have to be from the original chassis...highly modded regular truck is all 1 manufacturer...[whats in the box] brakes we wont see , carbon fiber can and is used but you wont see it [unless they use carbon decals on doors etc] these are all on euro trucks, americans run jalopies that are modified to run at high speed , web sites are harder to find for these as it never caught on here as in europe , but can be made to work because its at Indy and not Lemans or Nurburgring with all the turns... I would go ''super trucks''''and let 'em modify the hell of it. Remember almost all these guys have never even built a truck, and the kit cost is pretty high , so also suggest they check E-bay for a builder kit , and for a little twist for the non-big-rig builder , you might wanna toss in a side build for the '''Pace-truck''' for the '''Model Car Forum''' 1 lap event or something like that. It could drag in a few more who might not of even tried. just a few thoughts and hoped it helped out..........Ken/BIGTRUCK No trophies or prizes, just 'bragging rights' for building tha Best, 2nd Best and 3rd best, so far. and for additional information: http://www.lescamions.com/ http://www.nabigrigracing.com/ Downunder: http://www.fateracing.com/ So Let's go Racing.......
