Guest JamesDE Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I have been working on this one for the past week now. The body, undercarriage, and fire wall was painted with duplicolor mocha frost. I started working on the interior. Painted with Testors Light Aircraft gray, followed by plum purple trim, and flocked with a mixture of charcoal gray and white. I then mocked the interior tub to the body and I like how it is looking so far. Still needed a few more details in the interior Seatbelts , and a couple CD's layin in the front seat
Guest JamesDE Posted November 10, 2009 Posted November 10, 2009 I wasnt happy with the kit engine, so I dug through parts boxes and found the engine from a 70 Impala. With a little shortening of the driveshaft and using the Bel Air oil pan, this fit perfectly. Found a nice looking carb, and air cleaner for this one as well. So here is the mock up of how I think it is going to look.
Guest JamesDE Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Thanks fellas. Oops, just noticed the shifter as well. Easy fix. LOL Getting a little more done to the Bel Air. Made an Optima battery, and I got the engine painted and wired. Only my 3rd wiring job, so go easy on me. Working on a few other things for the engine bay and I will have progress on that later. Here are some pics of what I have done today
Dr. Cranky Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 I've always had a soft spot for those 62s Imps. Great job so far. Those CDs are the perfect interior touches!!!
Nick Winter Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Looks good. and about the wires not to critsize but, i'm new to it also, you wanna make your hole alittle bigger in the cylinder head so the wire is closer to the valve covers and bend or give it some more slack for the distributer, hope that helps.
Jordan White Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 No no no no no! CD's do not belong on the seat! They belong in the CD holder on the sunvisor! Looks great, can't wait to see how it turns out!

Ryan S. Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Lookin good so far. The interior is fantastic. I like the choice of the purple plug wires too. I'm a big fan of the 62 bel airs, I've got a couple in the works myself.
Janne Herajärvi Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Ill take my popcornes, some coke and watch this progress. I really like `62 Fullsize Chevys, i got 3 of them. That AMT kit is also pretty nicely detailed. BTW i used purple plug wires too in my last Belair in progress. You can see 2 of them in my workbench here http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...c=22554&hl= Keep up good work
Modlbldr Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 James- That interior is looking plum nice and the body is making me want to go get a Mocha. OK. That was too cheesy, but nice work on that 62. I like the wheel choice also. Keep it up. Later-
Guest JamesDE Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Thanks for the great comments everyone.
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Another great build for the lowrider man, himself. Great start, bro. I like it.

Guest JamesDE Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 A whole month goes by and I just start back again where I left off. The body has been foiled, the rear end mounted and I started the front suspension. Tack glued in place to get an idea of ride height. Im happy with the results of just flipping the king pins so off to tear it apart and paint the entire front suspension. Here are some pics.
Guest JamesDE Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Thanks bro. Got the suspension painted. Now on to finish up the engine and piece this thing together.
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 Anytime, bro. I finally got the colors on Delta Dawn.
gilsdropshop1 Posted December 22, 2009 Posted December 22, 2009 I'm loving this my style of ride PRO TOURING, keep pics coming and when your done lets go cruising!! Here is my 62 that i did about 3yrs ago.
Guest JamesDE Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Almost finished. Still need to put the headlights in and the exhaust. Should have it wrapped up by this evening. Hooray Crappy thing is the firewall wouldnt fit. No matter how many times I tried to get it to fit, just wouldnt work. So Ill fix that later.
