Modlbldr Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 (edited) Hello all- Some of you have been following my WIP in the "Under Construction" section.....and I thank you. Now it is finished and ready to move in here. It's amazing to me how a kit that was such a joy to work on could turn EVIL in the final assembly. I had a bear of a time getting the chassis to mount into the body....and it is still not right. I'm not sure what the issue is. Also, I managed to get a drop of Super Glue on the top of the front driver's fender. Something to fix later. Enough whining.... on to the bad photos. More photos coming. Later- Edited November 11, 2009 by Modlbldr
Modlbldr Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 (edited) A few more: Thanks for looking. Later- Edited November 11, 2009 by Modlbldr
randx0 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Those are great bad photos, the firebird looks pretty sweet I like the color.
Modlbldr Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Thanks Randy. I really did enjoy this kit until the last night. Later-
Guest Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Nice work. I am wondering if your fit issues stem from the wide wheels? Just a thought. The other thing, do you have a macro focus on your camera? If so, use it, as it will result in clearer pics. Great job on the build!
JayC Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 The car looks great! It looks fast just sittin there.
Reeves Racing Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Super work the detail on the interior is outstanding. The A/C vent looks real and I can see the shift pattern marking on the gear shift knob. WOW.
Space Cowboy Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Tom my frien you have done an outstanding job on this Bird. The interior and engine detail are sharp and clear. The Root Beer color is flawless and smooth. Now on to the next project......
Harold Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Great job, especially on the engine and interior (love the shift pattern on the knob), and a brown car is always good for an extra 10- 15 mph on the Interstate before the cops notice you.
Modlbldr Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Thanks again for all of the kind words. I am really happy with the work on the interior. Bruce- I'll bring it by for a closer inspection the next time I'm in town. It's now on to the next project, finishing up my 70 1/2 Camaro convertible. Look for it in the Workbench section. Later-
Nick Winter Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Thanks again for all of the kind words. I am really happy with the work on the interior. Bruce- I'll bring it by for a closer inspection the next time I'm in town. It's now on to the next project, finishing up my 70 1/2 Camaro convertible. Look for it in the Workbench section. Later- Tom this puppy is beautiful, I have a spray can of A GM color almost I dentical here in my shop. I was gonna use it on a '69 firebird convertible, but hey that'd be weird a '67 Firebird and a '69 wearing the same clothes I'm gonna use the color on a '79 camaro Berlinetta if I ever get a hood for it. Any who it looks really good Tom.
caine440 Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Looks Great. Love the detail work on the interior and body, heck all of it ! Well done Thanks for posting.
Modlbldr Posted November 11, 2009 Author Posted November 11, 2009 Thanks again guys. Nick- That color would look perfect on the 79 Berlinetta. I actually went to school with a kid who had a late 70's Berlinetta in a dark met. brown color that was very similar to it. Thanks. I hadn't thought of that car in years. He drove it like he stole it. On second thought, he just may have..... Later-
juergen Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 hi !!! nice to see your built of the 68 firebird. you do a good job on it. i like the color too. only the rear wheels are for me to big. this built is one of the next i will do. and hope i can do a good job to built it original as my 1:1 firebird. greets juergen
charlzrocks Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 Beautiful job, nice paint! But you got that other guy parked in, he'll never get out the drivers side door!
Janne Herajärvi Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 It looks really nice and i like that unusual color choice too Great job!
Raul_Perez Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Tom, All of the detail work looks GREAT!! Especially the interior!! Keep up the good work!! Later,
Greg Cullinan Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 It does look fast sitting there.I like the tires and stance.Looks like a 80's hot rod imo.I had a 70 esprit with a 400 and it flew.
dimaxion Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 (edited) Tom, All of the detail work looks GREAT!! Especially the interior!! Keep up the good work!! Later, I don't know what you use to remove cured super glue . I won't rub any more off/out . I have a '74 Vette with duplicolor factory finish . I dropped a goober of SG on the driver's door . Rubbed it down to the substrate , by hand . Substrate is through all layers of paint to the raw material . Currently it is displayed facing where it doesn't show the driver's door . Soon I must "Rotate my stock" . I found a little bottle of Super Glue Remover . It does the trick without finish damage . I like the Firebird . Excellent build . The finished product hides the fact it was fiddiley . The shift pattern was a shock . The interior right on . Keep them coming . Thanx.. Edited November 14, 2009 by dimaxion
Modlbldr Posted November 15, 2009 Author Posted November 15, 2009 Hey guys- Thanks again for all of the kind words and taking the time to look. Dimaxion- I'll have to eventually figure something out to fix the SG spot. Quite possibly I'll just try to lightly sand it and tape off a small area around it, leaving the edge of the tape raised to keep from getting a raised paint or clearcoat edge. We'll see what happens. Later-
