customcreator Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 Anyone ever do a "street glow" mod to their build? I am not building a tuner, but a gasser and was toying with some purple underglow lighting ala: from Gone in 60 seconds.. I am assuming I can get some small LED strips and maybe encase them in frosted tubes to get the underglow vs spot LEDs, but not sure how small they need to be. 1/25 model
customcreator Posted November 13, 2009 Author Posted November 13, 2009 wow, 45 views and nobody has even a comment??
Robert81 Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 The only thing close to Underglow I've seen was somebody using glow in the dark Paint on the under body. I assume several well placed LEDs in the chassis would work with a Battery Pack in the trunk area. If and when you do it, you should do up a tutorial.
FujimiLover Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 (edited) There are some glow lights that were designed for 1/28 scale RC cars called Xmods from Radio Shack. If you go to your local Radio Shack, you might be able to find a set and mod'em for model car use. As far as I know, they only came in green color. I think there are also some actual neon lighting available for the interior of your car that might be the right size. For that, check out your local Pep Boys store for them. There usually made to put under the dash or the sides of the center counsel. Those will have a lot more color options and might be the right size for the under carriage of your model. Either case, you may want to build a display base to house the power/switch unit's for the model. And as Robert said, don't foget to do a tutorial for us! Edited November 13, 2009 by FujimiLover
Soul Society Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Here you go my friend. Give these guys a call and they can get you hooked right up. If you really want it to look like the real thing detail wise you can simply get some very small acrylic tubes and encase them and add a snipet of black shrink wrap to each end of the tube to give it the "real deal look". Good luck The site........ http://www.glowire.com/rc_kits.htm

FujimiLover Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Nice kit, wonder how bright they are and how they look when mounted. Reasonably priced. Great find! I'd go for those instead of the other suggestions!
