I've read up on taking macro pictures and I think I need a new camera. I will have to let daughter dear know my Christmas gift wish. LOL. These are a few close ups of the Gene Snow engine. I am finding out my camera's macro setting leaves a bit to be desired. Maybe I am too picky with these? What can I say, I bought it for $50 about 6 years ago. It still takes gorgeous people and places shots though.

I've found that a lot of cameras don't do Macro well and I have one, but it does have a 3x optical zoom and 3x digital. If you turn off the digital and use the optical you can get some pretty decent close ups with it. If you try using the digital zoom it starts messin the pictures up.

There is no zoom when I am in macro mode. The camera is really old as far as digital cameras go. I am playing around with other settings and this is about as good as it gets. Not too bad. Like I said it takes great people and places pics. I have some pictures from Las Vegas, Hoover Dam and the Rocky Mountains that are incredible.

That's what I was thinking also. I took these on my work bench which has fluorescent bulbs in pivot lamps. I think I will get some big regular bulbs for pictures and use the fluorescent when I build (less heat). Thanks for the tip.

No problem, you are right the fluorescent bulbs just don't do it as far as I have found, I have better luck with at least 100 watt bulbs and use the clear not the white looking ones. I have 3 of the small clamp on lights with maybe 18 inch flex mounts ( Walmarts ). I clamp them to the edges of what ever I am shooting the pics on and they seem to work pretty well.
