Terry Jessee Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 ...is all the information you find. For example, there's a discussion about belly tanker models. I have one of the California Model Works kits, but didn't know about the Star Models kits or the others. I always have fun going over to Resin Realm to look and daydream, but still haven't seen everything. And that's the way it is here. I'm ALWAYS finding something new to me. It's like this: This is a Disney collectible. It's just about 1/24 "scale," if you will, so it fits my movie and TV car collection. I think this is from the TV series, not the first film, but it fills the gap. "Cruella DeVille, Cruella DeVille, if she doesn't scare you, no evil thing will...." Terry Quote
george 53 Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Jesse, I couldn't agree with you more! This forum has introduced me to MORE great people than I've EVER met in the hobby! It even got me into a CLUB! The guys here are GREAT! EVERYone has a GREAT attitude, and I'd NEVER have met guys like Gregg, Bill Geary,Mr.BIGGS,Santiago(Mr.1/16th) an the rest of the bunch without it. I'm here everyday, just to see what'll come up next! I try to be as helpful as I can, just to show my appericiation for it. I mean, WHERE ELSE could I have mey guys like these? YOU included? I'm just a lowly ol basement builder, but beein able to share ideas, and ask questions of some of THE BEST scratch builders in the WORLD (YOU Treehugger), guys who run their OWN buisnesses,(Andy,Jeffb)Give me advice, This place really does ROCK! I LOVE this place, it's the BEST thing that's happened to me in MY veiw, for MY hobby that I've ever experienced! Like I said, I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!! Quote
disabled modeler Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 you are so right guys, as you may know by now i live in a model dry town.....here one would think that they are illegal or something, meeting you guys and sharing info ect. is very helpful and it opens new doors to someone like me that has very limited resources to find things that one wants or needs. not to mention meeting others with the same love of the hobby...........mark Quote
Harold Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Amen, Terry, I've learned a lot of neat building tricks, seen some jaw- dropping work on a regular basis, and made (hopefully) a few friends. Even when I'm going through a dry spell, I find stuff to get the gears in my head turning. Best model car site ever . Quote
crazyjim Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I can't give an opinion about other model car forums because I've never been there. MCM is the only forum for me. I've never ssen so many fantastic models! The ability to share ideas and parts, swap parts, and gets tips on how to do stuff is great. Why would anybody go anywhere else? Quote
E St. Kruiser50 Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 Like everyone else here so far, I have to agree that this is a great place to meet people, make new friends, learn a ton of new things - YES, EVEN US 'OLD DOGS" CAN LEARN NEW TRICKS . Also fun to share here, because you get honest opinions and feedback, and that's helped me expand my building style even more - HEY, I USE WHITEWALLS NOW - I USED TA HATE 'UM . I have as much fun here as being at the clubs I belong to. Harry and Gregg really go the extra mile, and put up with our #%&*@ at times, because we're guy's . I don't think there's a better place be - dave Quote
Guest arni Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 While I am mostly on a small privately run forum I do like this place a lot! There is always something new to learn. Lots of information to be picked up in the wip threads and so on. I get to see kits that I never even knew about and kits that I had forgotten about. A great place indeed. ;) Quote
James Flowers Posted November 28, 2009 Posted November 28, 2009 I know that I really enjoy this place. There is always something new to learn here. Quote
oldscool Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 (edited) I agree with Terry too. I am a convert from the other magazine forum. Since I found this one I hardly ever visit the other one anymore. There is an atmosphere of nostalgia that was missing from the other forum as well as a wealth of knowledge and talent here. Don't get me wrong - there was a wealth of knowledge and talent on the other forum also but this just seems to be a more comfortable place for me . Edited November 29, 2009 by oldscool Quote
Eshaver Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Terry , you sir have inspired me to do better, more extensive work on models over the years . While i'm known for my gasoline pumps , I have over the years enjoyed the pictures I have seen of your work . Keep it up ! Ed Shaver Quote
Harry P. Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 IMO, the "funnest" part of this place is the variety of members we have. Quite a collection of characters... every kind of personality you can think of, from the best master builders to the wackiest characters you're likely to find anywhere... all in one place, all hanging out together, and all for free! Tony T Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 I gotta agree. It has been a while since I visited the other place. Everytime I do, I come back here. Like coming home. Quote
Guest Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Ditto all these sentiments. And the Cruella car is from the animated film. I just come across the record of the movie I had when I was a kid. Talk about a blast from the past! Quote
Jon Cole Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 I agree that this board is awesome! It keeps me in the hobby, when I am not able to continue at the workbench. I wish some other builders from Classic Plastic and Masscar were here, as I really do feel disconnected from others I have never met in person, people from the world over. But I do get to share some, and learn a lot! I have even forwarded tips from here to others! And a big tip of the hat to another "mystery man", Harry! His efforts here to keep it all running smooth deserve a thumbs up from all. He wears a lot of hats while moderating our little zoo! Thanks all! Quote
