I actually started this kit back in 1991 when I was living in Little Rock, Ark. The car was originally painted a Sapphire Metallic Blue but I decided to strip the old paint job last year when I dug this car out and decided to get back to work on it.

The car is painted Moulin Rouge. According to the documentation I could scrounge up regarding the 70 GTX, there were only 7 of these cars produced with this paint code. I love the high impact colors Chrysler used back in the late 60's and early 70's so this was a perfect choice.

I originally planned on this car being a box stock build, but I got a bit carried away when I found a really good picture of a '70 440 6-Pack car. I decided to add a bit of engine detailing to the car and so far have gotten the fuel lines from the pump to the carbs run and also a couple of vacuum lines routed. I will add spark plug wiring as well and most likely some various electrical wiring and so forth in the engine bay.

This is another project I'm looking at wrapping up in the next month or so if all goes according to plan. Anyways, I hope y'all like the pics...

I've been back to work on this the past couple of days and have gotten a bit more done on it. I actually missed working on this project and am enjoying the effort I've been able to put forth so far.

Today I added more detail to the engine including an oil dipstick, wires and looms and have drilled the holes for the heater hoses. I also added valve stems in the wheels and detail painted them as well. I'm not very fond of this style of wheel simply because of the shallow detail in the plastic. it makes it extremely difficult to make them look decent, but at least the effort was made. The engine is now glued to the chassis and I will fabricate some throttle linkages probably later this afternoon or evening.

I also have some holes drilled in the alternator to facilitate some electricl wiring detail as well. So much for building this box stock, huh? ::D

I hope y'all enjoy the pics. Please feel free to share your thoughts, observations and comments.

Brian, great work so far! Just a quick comment from a long time Mopar lover and a 6bbl owner. Regarding the spark plug wires. Wires for cyl. # 1,3,& 5 and on the pass. side, 2,4,& 6 should come a bit further forward before looping up to cross in front of the cylinder heads. In real life, yours would burn up from the exhaust manifold heat. The #7 and #8 wires should come up around the back of the cylinder head and run down the valve covers towards the distributor.

The coil should be turned 180 degrees. Hope this helps.

I sure do appreciate your input!!! I am not a Mopar expert by any stretch, so any tips and help I can get is more than greatly appreciated! I will definitely be able to apply these tips to my current 70 Challenger 340 6-Pack and my 69 Dodge Super Bee 440 6 Barrel...Any pics you might have that i could use for detail reference would also be greatly appreciated! I'd love to see pics of your 'Bird!!!!!
