vizio93 Posted January 1, 2010 Author Posted January 1, 2010 Mustang engine for the win! Yeah that's what I'm thinkin', hopefully I can find an intake that I like (or make one)
vizio93 Posted January 7, 2010 Author Posted January 7, 2010 Alright a 1/2 of an update, I think I might make my own intake for the mustang engine. I kind of like the look of three carburetors, so most likely something along those lines. Hopefully pics tomorrow
trogdor Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I think the mustang engine really looks at home there. What colors have you picked out ?
vizio93 Posted January 7, 2010 Author Posted January 7, 2010 I think the mustang engine really looks at home there. What colors have you picked out ? Thanks Rick I'm thinkin about using two different colors as the "main" colors. Like the top of the cab being the same color as the frame (color #1), and then the bottom half of the cab, the grill, and the bed, being another color. Or I might even do it in flat black with an orange interior like I did my 32' ford sedan. So I don't really know yet, but those are kinda what I'm leaning towards
MikeMc Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 I like the color idea with the way your breaking it down...I'm trying that in a two color fade on my 32 rod I used photoshop for coloring ideas on my 32...check it out..fades are not too tough to do Saw a couple of great fades done by a 14 yr old ..name of Alex..this guy is talented!!

Well I was actually thinking I would separate it by a pinstripe of another color like in this photo. Except my frame would be color #1 to match the top of the cab, and the grill, bed, and bottom of the cab would be color # 2. Just a little visual aid. ( A fade would be a great idea too mmmmmmmm ) I don't mean to copy this guys paint job, I just can't find any other picture of the paint job I'm trying to explain. Edited January 8, 2010 by vizio93
Custom Hearse Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) Looks great Billy. I built the original AMT '34 for the farm truck build off, with the satkebed and used the flat head with a supercharger. I also added pro street tires to the rear and gave it a "gentleman's top chop". I like the idea for the separated paint scheme. Keep up the great work, and I'm looking forward to seeing more! Custom Hearse Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Sounds cool Marshall, Do you have any pics ? I wouldn't mind seeing them Here ya go... This is the original box...
vizio93 Posted January 8, 2010 Author Posted January 8, 2010 Ahh I remember seeing that one !!! I like it . I was considering using the flat bed, but I would probably have to shorten it and somehow get it lower than the top of the wheels. I think that the short bed I put on it looks decent enough. Thanx fer the pics man
Custom Hearse Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Did you steal my pics??? You could always tub the flatbed. As for shortening it, I don't see why. Somebody mentioned that the dual wheels were not included in the Lindberg release... That kinda sucks if it is true... Okay, time for an update soon Billy!
vizio93 Posted January 8, 2010 Author Posted January 8, 2010 Ok heres the second part of the update, the intake. These are the two that I'm choosing from. I can do the single carburetor one, and maybe put a oval air cleaner on it. Or I could do the tunnel ram intake and two carburetors with a velocity stacks on each of them. Mmmmmmmmm choices, choices, choices Thanx
horsepower Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Stay with the supercharger that came on the Mustang engine, since the intake is at the back of the engine you can build an air intake that goes to the firewall, & open the cowl vent & say that is for the intake. Also, the thing that is hanging down on the mustang engine is the power steering pump, just cut it off, the alternator is on the front top center, right in the valley of the motor.

I think it would look pretty mean with a stock height tall roof and a tall tunnel ram on a paint matched motor? Maybe paint the tunnel ram black, gloss or flat, with a red hourglass on the front, just to make it look mean (black widow). It's looking pretty good so far and I'm sure, whatever you decide, it will be a looker! I went with the kit's 6 pack but cut away the 'bad' parts of the engine and replaced them with better looking ones. I cut out and swapped the front cover, water pump, oil filter, fuel pump, heads, starter and motor mounts. In retrospect, I guess it would have been better just to trade the intake and the trans onto a more accurate motor I guess that's what happens when your OCD... Mine's been roadstered, channeled, z-ed, shortened, raised, cut, detailed and is still not half done. Someday, I really got to finish a model... Seems like we should have a "post your '34s" thread...

I can't use the supercharger cause it's on my C6 Corvette. The alternator on the 5.4 liters that are in the GT500KR's are in fact on the bottom and to the right. I'll just make some taller engine mounts so it won't sit on the frame. If I had the super charger that would be a great idea but I have done used it on another project .

Yeah that's what I'm kinda leaning towards. I think I have a set of velocity stacks in my parts box, and if I'm correct I've got them still on the carbs. I'll see what I can find I agree the '34 pickup is almost as iconic as the 32 ford is
vizio93 Posted January 10, 2010 Author Posted January 10, 2010 Ok more updates !!! I got the Tunnel Ram intake mocked up onto the engine, still have to paint it. I've still got to adjust how the engine sits and how I'm going to adjust the floorboards, cause the transmission sits a little higher now. Heres some pics : Hers the velocity stacks I'll most likely use Now I'm thinkin that a set of these would look perty good on there but it will take a little work to cut a hole in the bed and run the exhaust to it. Or maybe a couple of these ? Thanks for looking
Custom Hearse Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Looks awesome Billy! I like the engine with tunnel ram you've chosen. Are you going to chop the top or leave it stock? Looking forward to the next episode of Masterbuild Theater.

Looking forward to the next episode of Masterbuild Theater. Thanks Marshall !!! No I don't think I'm gonna chop it; since I channeled it it has already lost some of the head room in the cab so I don't want to take any more out. Still have to decide some colors. I'm thinkin' of a light silver and a dark silver ? Maybe I dunno Edited January 11, 2010 by vizio93
Custom Hearse Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 How about blue and silver? That would be a nice combo...
vizio93 Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 How about blue and silver? That would be a nice combo... Mmmmmmm, a light or dark blue ? I have a nice light blue, but I've always loved dark blue. I'll see what other colors I got downstairs.
vizio93 Posted January 11, 2010 Author Posted January 11, 2010 Needs the pipes! It will look awesome IMO. Thanks, I think I will use the stacks. They will be a little taller than in the mock up. I like the 45 degree cut on 'em, but the flat cut ones look good too. It might take a little work to put them in though, but I'm up for it Thanks again
whale392 Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 One thing to remember when adapting that tunnel ram to the 4.6/5.4 from the GT500/Cobra series........the heads are dual port per cylinder (or at least my Lincoln MKVIII LSC 'B' heads are). I like the idea of the tunnel-ram set up; how about building it with EFI fuel rails and injectors, and turn the carbs into throttle-bodies?
