I started this this morning,it is a Hasegawa kit.The first Hasegawa kit since I was about 12 years old..LOL

So the box top.

Lots of ejector pin marks!! I shaved a few off,but four of them had to be removed since they were positioned right where the inner arches fit to the floor!

The front and rear suspension/engine assembled.

And sprayed black..

After a clean up the shell was primed.

Then the shell was given a couple of coats of Tamiya X11 chrome silver.

Now for the fun bit,the shell was sprayed with Tamiya clear yellow,it has had about six coats so far. There are a few marks that need rubbing out, once that is taken care of I will lay more clear yellow on it.

Looking great! I'm curious as how you removed the sink marks where the inner arches fit. I am currently working on the 67 Type 2 pick up and they share the same chassis. Thanks

Donnie

I use the end of my Dremel 115 bit like an end mill at a low speed and finish with sandpaper on a square piece of wood.

Cheers guys.

Donnie,I used a chisel edge blade to remove the worst of the pins and finished off by scraping it over the marks.

Greg,to answer your question tonight I sprayed about 10 more coats of clear yellow on the shell. There were a few marks on the roof that needed rubbing down,if I am not happy with the roof finish it will be sprayed satin black.

The chromework will either be sprayed clear yellow or stripped and sprayed satin black...Not sure yet.

Nice! I'm just starting the 23 window version of this kit that Revell released. Thanks for the heads up about the ejector pin marks in the chassis!

I will probably go for the stock wheels as I dont want to spend too long doing this one.

I love the weekend! the only real chance for me to get some building done. :D

Today I lowered the front suspension, all I had to do was remove the guide rails from the inner wings.I got carried away doing it and forgot to take a picture.. <_<

The chromework has been sprayed with 3-4 coats of clear yellow and I like the effect.

The hubcaps and headlights ect.

The wheels were sprayed Tamiya red (I thought about black or yellow)

I decided to change the tyres over from the Tamiya Beetle kit as they are slightly wider, then the they were assembled.

The floorpan was sprayed black and the eng/suspension ect fitted after a lick of silver. The ejector pin marks that didn't interfere with fit were left as is...

Wheels on.

The interior-what there is of it! is red too,the bench seat was sprayed red then sprayed with a matt varnish.

Wow Nige, That rascals commin out NICE! I think a satin black roof would go nice on it! Or maybe just do that sculpture line around the body, and the "Vee" on the front in a nice contrasting color might look good too.biggrin.gif

Cheers Junkman ;)

George,I wish I had read that before I fitted the glass.. :) Ahh well I still have the samba bus to do.LOL

So today it was assembly time, the bench seat and gear lever went in.

The Beetle kit that the tyres came from had a spare wheel,so it was fitted to the bulkhead with a retaining bracket.

The dash and steering column.

The shell was fitted to the floor and the chromework was fitted (well most of it!)

It is tricky to capture the colour on this....Depending on lighting conditions it ranges from a dull gold with a hint of green to a bright yellow/gold colour! Not quite a flip colour but close I guess.
