Another painting question

Just getting back to models after 20 years or so. I'm building cars with my daughters, 13 & 15. I'm new to cars, I almost exclusively built tanks and planes.

Anyway, I'm building a Fujimi Mini Cooper S with my 13 year old, and she wants white with black stripes. I'm planning on using Tamiya TS 7 Racing White with TS 14 Black for the stripes. I'll probably clear coat it after painting the stripes. The problem is the outer wheel arches are flat black. Do I do all the body painting, then just follow up with the flat black after the clear coat?

Also, I have never decanted paint for airbrush use. Should the Tamiya paint be used with no further thinning?

thats the way i would do it, you shouldnt thin it ive never thinned it after decanting

Thanks! I decided to go with Tamiya acrylic flat and gloss blacks when I saw the price of the spray paints...

I ended up getting the Tamiya Clear spray paint though figuring one manufacturer's products would all work well together.

Warning DO NOT use the clear spray over the acrylics, the spray is a synthetic lacquer. The acrylics are not really a good choice for bodys any way. Take a look at Testor's Laquer sprays as they are cheaper. You could use the Acrylic Flat Black over any paint used for the body. Tamiya' Gloss acrylics have a tendency to crack if a second color is painted over another.

I specifically asked about using the lacquer clear over the acrylic and the clerk said it would work just fine. Thanks for the warning, I'll either use lacquer for the stripes or maybe just use decals. I have some black ones from another car kit I can trim to proper size.
