bluemoose Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Here's the old MPC/AMT kit I just finished. I painted the body with Tamiya light sand (TS-46) and dark earth (AS-22), covered with Tamiya TS-13 clear. The fabric top is Tamiya NATO black (TS-63). I brush painted the interior with Testors leather enamel: The kit includes two engines, a 426 Wedge with the cool factory exhaust manifolds, and the venerable four banger. I painted the Wedge with Tamiya orange (TS-12) and Model Master Titanium buffing metalizer for the headers. For the Model A engine I used Tamiya gray green (AS-3) topped off with Tamiya semi-gloss clear (TS-79) to add a little luster. My build progress photos are here
george 53 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Tom, that came out BEAUTIFUL!!! Looks like something that sat on a showroom floor back in the day. Just beautiful!!! VERY nice build!
my80malibu Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Excellent job Tom, what a fantatstic build.
Chillyb1 Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 (edited) That is, indeed, really cool. When I see builds like this it makes me wish I was more into cars of this era. The colors look great together and like an authentic period Ford. What is the interior color? EDIT: Never mind. I just read the post again and see that "leather" is the answer to my question. Bernard Kron Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Another immaculately realistic model from you. You really have an eye for color and scale. Your builds are always a pleasure to view.
Janne Herajärvi Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Very nice to see stock build and not always rodded up rodded up...can i say like that? My english again
Guest Gramps-xrds Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Those were great old kits no matter how they were built. Their hard to find and very expensive when you do. To bad they'll never be re-issued.
Chuck Most Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 The old AMT '28 Tudor is one of my 'bucket list' kits. Seeing one built this beautifully both makes me giddy as a school girl and depressed as a grunge rocker at the same time!
Ragnar Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Very nice build. You created a very authentic looking Model A, with your paint work. CHEERS!
RJL Posted February 11, 2010 Posted February 11, 2010 Nothing like a clean build of the good old Model A. Great job Tom!
Sixties Sam Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Beautiful model, Tom! That's got to be the best Model A build I've seen! I still have one of those kits I built back in the 1960's. I made it into a panel truck. It's not near as nice as yours. Great job! Sam
Modlbldr Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Tom- What a nice clean build. I have one of these kits that I picked up in 2006 before I left Alaska for....sit down for this, $15. I like the fact that you built it stock. Thanks for sharing. Later-
Guest Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Beautiful work! Really nice to see it built stock instead of rodded or chopped or something!
crazyjim Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 I'm not into stock but this is a beauty. Looks like it just came off the showroom floor. Very nice.
Raul_Perez Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Very nice!! I really like the color combination!! Later,
vizio93 Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 (edited) Looks good man, nice job !!! I agree, the color combo looks beautiful Edited February 12, 2010 by vizio93
Harry P. Posted February 12, 2010 Posted February 12, 2010 Oh yeah! Factory stock! How many times have we seen cars of that era rodded or ratted or raced? Ho hum... But to see one like that, now that's a nice change of pace. Excellent! All the details and colors are "just right."
Duntov Posted March 1, 2010 Posted March 1, 2010 This is really nice!!!! Proof positive that (in many cases) everything you need is in the box!!!!!
