Modlbldr Posted February 14, 2010 Posted February 14, 2010 One of my favorite old Fords. I sure kick myself for not picking up a few of these before. I'll be watching this one. I'd say red w/ black accents. Later-
Bluzboy66 Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 Well guys the 32 is done so now I get to start on the Torino that I have been dieing to get to, not real sure what color I am going with but it will let me know what it wants Walt, I have one of these that I've been dying to start. RJWood Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Nice start to it so far Walt. There is a 1:1 '70 Torino around my neck o' the woods, looks to be a forrest green and it looks awesome. Can't wait to see more of your build.

Pics looks great so far, Walt. And, yes, you're right about Alex. He has jumped head-long into model building, and he's getting better and better by the kit. What impresses me the most is that he's starting to get really creative, thinking outside the box, and starting to whittle on the plastic a bit, making things look the way HE wants it to. He still gets a little impatient at times, and hurries to get finished. But it's only because HE'S excited. How can you knock a 13 year-old for that??!! Besides that, he's the only 13 year-old that I know that's actually building models! Sad, but true. .....And thanks for encouraging him. He's hooked on this Forum, just like I knew he'd be. Alex is a good kid, and I'm proud of him and all he does. You guys are really making his day by taking time to comment on his builds. He's on top of the world. Mike
Jordan White Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 (edited) Here's the color you should do: Looking on Google images, most are orange, red, and yellow, but you don't see to many green versions. Edited February 22, 2010 by YJIslander
walt francis Posted February 23, 2010 Author Posted February 23, 2010 WOW !!!!!OOOOOk I think I am going to have to think about this one real hard because that looks like the british green Met. I did on my 50 chevy pickup or go with lime green met.

LOVE that shade of green on that car. I built an old AMT '72 Chevelle in that color......I think it was Testor's Model Master British Racing Green, if I recall. Mike
Hodger04 Posted February 23, 2010 Posted February 23, 2010 I finished a '70 Torino Cobra Jet of my own a few months back.. I'm a new member and posted pics of this build. You should check em out if you get a chance. I painted mine the factory Ford Grabber Green.
walt francis Posted February 24, 2010 Author Posted February 24, 2010 Ron, I just took a look see at your cobra and all I can say is that all I can hope for is that mine comes out as nice as yours. I have just one question about the hood and fender gap was the gap real big on yours because I will have to fix the gap on mine.
CheaterSlick Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 walt this car is going to look beautiful!!!!!! Alex

Actually I have to say this kit fit together better than most that i've done. There was very little adjustments needed to complete it.

Bluzboy66 Posted March 2, 2010 Posted March 2, 2010 Ok Mike you won ! I just stopped at the LHS and I picked up the Boyd Lime pearl and that will go over Gold... Are you happy now ? ....LOL That should look awesome. Looking forward to seeing the finished product! Mike
walt francis Posted March 8, 2010 Author Posted March 8, 2010 Well I got the side vents sanded and polished off so now it's a cobra and not a GT.
walt francis Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 Got the gap on the hood being worked out and got some foil on the console
Bluzboy66 Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Got the gap on the hood being worked out and got some foil on the console Looking at my Torino kit, I'm thinking that paint film will be enough to close the gap between the fenders and hood. I wonder how much variation there is between these kits.....different releases, etc.? Mike
walt francis Posted March 14, 2010 Author Posted March 14, 2010 I still have to sand it down for the gap but it was unreal how wide it was.

Custom Mike Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Guys and girls, this is what happens when you wetsand The first coat of primer and then wash it WITH !!!! hand soap with aloe in it and not dish soap then go and shoot the next coat Ok what did we learn today ? Umm, soap is EVIL? No, that's just what I thought when I was a kid! Sorry to see the mishap, but I'm sure you can recover easily, at least it's just the primer and not a color coat....
Jordan White Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Oh the irony, instead of giving it smooth skin, it gave it rough skin!
