djway3474 Posted February 16, 2010 Posted February 16, 2010 This is one of those high detail Fujimi kits with tons o parts. POC, absolutely nothing fit on this thing and box stock you would think it was a mud bogger as high as it sat. I wanted to enter in box stock but it was just too darn ugly sittin sky high. Finally got it down and just had to remove a bunch of stuff, do a lot of grindin and here she sits. Jon Cole Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 (edited) Man, that is one beautiful bathtub! And I mean that with the upmost respect! I like the 356 Porsche, and you have it sitting just right. The car needs to sit low like you have it to look that good. Only problem? Need more pics! EDIT: note to self... read entire post. Link to more pics. I did look, and it looks good! Edited February 19, 2010 by Spyder
Railfreak78 Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Sorry to hear it had so many problems but wow, It's beautiful now! I love the stance as Spyder said. It looks aggressive enough for a great drive down the California coast route. Great looking classic.
elan Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 Beautiful!! Too bad the kit is such a pain. Maybe that why you see so many for sale on Ego-bay.
CAL Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 looks good to me. I heard the horror stories, guess that's why mine stays in the box.
B_rad88 Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 thats a nice 356, looks cool! i have one its the 356b/c 2000gs hardtop. i want to build it, but now i'm very iffy with the stories i have read too. ugh, and i wanted to collect one of each and build it.
John E. Bowers Jr. Posted February 19, 2010 Posted February 19, 2010 Your build of this kit looks good. Believe it or not, I have these very same kits on my bench right now thanks to the evilbay. Upon initial inspection both looked very nice, but after a more thorough inspection there were some problems with the body. The cabriolet has a broken B pillar on the drivers side and the coupe body is very badly warped. The engines look to be very detailed and easily super detailed. We'll see just how tough I am...
jbwelda Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 yes those are pretty difficult kits but they can be built up well as you show. many of the bodies are damaged especially if you bought the testors rebox. i picked up a bunch of those one time for cheap because of the body damage and it turned out a couple were fine and the rest i use for parts but am also thinking about making a backyard racer out of one of the trashed bodies. the motor is a work of art given you put time into making it nice. i am currently building a tamiya karmann ghia and transplanting the muy detailed quad cam motor, trans and a bunch of other stuff into it. there is a thread in workbench area that i need to update because ive made significant progress since then. for some reason i couldnt get to your fokti folder to see more pics, if you have pics of the motor please post here. here is a shot of my unfinished motor, its done now but havent shot it yet: though the fit is iffy on the motor, like the whole model, if youre patient you can get a good result!
