Darin Bastedo Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) I'm working on a conversion of the Tamiya 911 GT2 into a stock 1996 Porsche 911 Turbo. I already have some arena red paint for it... Next is also based on the Taniya 911 GT2 kit but this time it's a custom speedter... When I'm done with the modifications I may have them cast if a Resin Caster shows interest. Jon Cole Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) Way cool Porsche projects Darin! That Speedster sure looks familiar... PORSCHE Carrera Panamericana. It was built as a showcar & as a present for Herr Porsche's birthday in 1989. Edited March 6, 2010 by Spyder
Darin Bastedo Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 Way cool Porsche projects Darin! That Speedster sure looks familiar... PORSCHE Carrera Panamericana. It was built as a show car & as a present for Herr Porsche's birthday in 1989. Indeed that is the car that inspired my build though I really didn't care for the "dune buggy" look of the bottom half. Mine is not an exact copy but perhaps a production-ized version of the show car.
Modelmartin Posted March 6, 2010 Posted March 6, 2010 That's the stuff, Darin. I like what you have there. There is something about Porsches that just appeal to me that Italian stuff doesn't. I thought Panamericana too the moment I saw your second car. I could see soaking them in silicon!!

Darin Bastedo Posted April 23, 2011 Author Posted April 23, 2011 I've managed to design a new set of wheels for the speedster. They are ment to be a modern version of the minilite wheels. I thought it would add to the bare-bones look of the speedster. I have it posed on my turbo body because the speedster wasn't handy at the moment, but it should give you an idea of how it will look.
Darin Bastedo Posted April 26, 2011 Author Posted April 26, 2011 Here are the front and rear wheels mocked up on the speedster I used the rims from the tamiya kit and scratch-built my own centers. I have to do two more and some finishing work on them and I can move on to finishing the body work.
