This would not really be a conversion kit, but it is a good start. To help you turn the new AMT re issue of the 62 Pontiac Bonneville into a Grand Prix.

These pieces were taken from a vintage kit and unaltered. So they are not a direct fit. But they are very easily fix to do so. This item is listed on the "Parts" page of the DENCON Scale Resin Specialties web site.

Great job as usual, Matt.

One minor correction: the Grand Prix was based on the shorter Catalina and not the Bonneville so using these grills with the recently-reissued AMT '62 Catalina kit would be the way to go.

Sorry guys

Larry. I just do not know a THING about early 60s Pontiac, nor do I have a bit of interest in those ugly cars. I have been depending on others on info, and that is the problem. I get so many different stories about these grills to the point that I am going to discontinue them. I have some guy say that they work with the "WHATEVER" 62 Pontiac kit that just came back out, and some guys tell me that they are totally different cars. So what happened is I made this mold for someone years ago when that 62 Pontiac "WHATEVER" first came out. Because they wanted them for that kit. So I assumed that person knew what they were talking about. I do not know the difference between the Bonneville or the Catalina and not trying to offend anyone. But my personal opinion, I just do not care. I hate those cars.

So Larry, Thanks for your info on these cars and offering your help. I do appreciate it. But I have had just too many other guys, and not on this board, this time on this subject. So I am not annoyed by you or Ed. You guys are and have always been great guys to me. But I sometimes get sick of these guys that have e-mailed me and on other boards that never say anything good or productive for me. The just say something about these grills and give me conflicting (in my simple mind LOL)info on these 62 Pontiac "WHATEVERS". Then just to show off how huge their brain is by cutting me down about these items. Not to help me or be constructive like you guys were on this thread. I have not sold a set. So just to stop the confusion. I am discontinuing these. If anyone wants a set. I will sell them. But I am not offering them anymore on my site.

Thanks again for your helpful info. Hope you understand and did not get offended by this. I did not mean it towards you two at all.

No problem here Matt - I've known you a long time now and no way would I take offense. I do understand exactly what you mean.

Keep the good stuff coming, my friend.

 First I can see " MODERATORS " going for the Delete key ................. With that being said , I'm going to defend matt here cause of some CHILDREN who obviously need to get ANNOTHER hobby besides model building !If you're so proficient at making and casting pieces , why arent you building them ? I don't see anything but quality work form EVERY RESIN CASTER WHOSE A MEMBER ON THIS BOARD !!!!! Iv'e been here long enough to see who can or can not do the job . Bullying a business person isn't very mature so get on with you'r e lives and consider Bird watching or collecting stamps . if you can offer something constructive as to what fits what , O K . Me , Ive been in the automotive restoration business for thirty five + years . Am or do I consider myself an "Expert " ? HECK NO , NOT BY A LONGSHOT !!!! In fact , when I attend show and sombody says to me that they are and expert , I'm headed outta Dodge as fast as I can cause theres always one jerk who sits around on hisssss armchair and sez he knows it all. Matt, You do a fine job of what you do , I just wish my tiny check would allow me to actually purchace some of what you and several other casters on the board here offer . Meanwhile , I scratchbuild what I can . I'm sorry that the crybabies out there can't do the same ! Ed Shaver

Matt:

I don't know you from Adam, but I agree about the crappy attitudes of many of the critics. I don't care what your taste in cars is, but I am interested in seeing some Grand Prix parts for conversion of the AMT '62 Catalina. I would like to make a minor suggestion, though I understand I'm at risk of offending your taste in cars...

The same Bonneville kit from which you took the front grilles had the other visual cue from the GP, the rear grille that sits between the taillights on that 'unspeakably ugly' car. That has in the past been a more difficult find than the front grilles. Bet if you offered the two elements together you'd sell more of the set.

On the matter of 'taste', I'm sure Don Holthaus and Norm Veber aren't total fans of the asthetics of every piece they offer in their successful, profitable and popular lines after decades in business. That attitude might be something to emulate if you are in this for the long run...

No offence here at all. I thank you for your input. I relay very much input from builder like you. I have been doing this resin casting for allot longer then you might think. If you were to look on my site. you would see that I do many items that are quite a wide range of interests. Many of the items I have been making for, well some over 10 years now. I have never nor will ever have any personal interest in. My personal interest and taste have never played a factor in what I produce and sell. That is why I was offering those grills. I stated that I did not like those cars to point out that I know nothing about them and I relay on other builders that DO like those types of cars. I need those builders to point me in the right direction. That way I can come out with useful items for many different tastes in automobiles in scale. So because of my "Lack Of Interest" in those cars. When I state something wrong. I get so beat up for it. That dilutes the useful info I need to properly produce and market the product. So when I get way to much flack for something. It is just better to not produce the item at all.

As for your idea. I really am not totally sure what you are talking about, because, like I said. I personally think those cars are hideous looking. So I have not any interest or knowledge about them. That is all I am saying. Does not mean that I would not produce the item. But I also do not have any other items from the kit that those grills came from. So I cannot produce the part that you are suggesting. So at this time. With the negative input on these grills outweighing the positive. I have chosen to not product them. I just cannot see the point of making them. That has nothing to do with the fact that I do not like those cars.

I am getting ready to come out with a very large group of items this coming week that I have spent about 4 months of work on and hundreds of dollars on, that I have no interest what so ever in ever building these. I also knew nothing about these items. But I have the help of someone that is very knowledgeable about these items and is helping me. So you can see that my personal taste and opinions on this subject had nothing to do with me investing and producing these upcoming items.

Thanks again for your input.
