crazyjim Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 (edited) Got the '62 Catalina kit and love the box art for the frond end with the tube grille, and I'll probably strip the chrome from the bumper to try and make a rolled apn look. But does anyone have any ideas about doing the rear end? My feeble mind is coming up blank. I'd hate to dod custom treatment on the front and leave the rear stock. Sure would appreciate your thoughts. Edited March 22, 2010 by crazyjim
Harold Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 A couple years ago, Collectible Automobile did an article on the '60- '62 Ventura. There was a wealth of photos from GM's styling archives that showed several interesting variations as the design was being hashed out. Great fodder for a custom.I think these kinds of pics are better inspiration than the usual custom ideas seen in magazines.
sfhess Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 I'd fill in the stock taillight locations and fab up some kind of taillight in the recess across the back of the car. maybe plain or finned like the 62 Grand Prix.

I also saw in Collectible automobile design studies in clay that there was a '61 catalina with a split rear window similar to the Stingray. It even had the doors cut into the leading edge of the roof.
