Terry Sumner Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 From my experience building models back in the 60's I don't recall any models kitted with the parts in plastic bags. And if there were plastic bags I sure don't recall hazard warnings printed on any plastic bags back then. This fellow has what he is calling an original 60's issue of the SWC Willys up for auction but I believe it to be the 1989 reissue. Take a look at the photos and you'll see the parts in modern plastic bags with the hazard warnings printed on them. Anyone got an original 60's issue of this kit? If so, were the parts packaged in plastic bags? Just curious... http://cgi.ebay.com/Revell-41-Willys-Rare-Original-Unbuilt-1960s_W0QQitemZ200455067561QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2eac0d97a9
Harry P. Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 Is that a recycling logo on the plastic??? If so, there's a dead giveaway as to the authenticity of this "original" kit.
Modelmartin Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 The price so far is fair for a re-issue in an original box.
Terry Sumner Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 You're quite right Dave...certainly mean no ill will towards the seller. I was interested in it if it was an original but I was pretty sure it wasn't as I have that 1989 reissue. But I thought the bags were the dead giveaway since I couldn't read the printing on the instruction sheet. And he does have some nice stuff I would love to have...if I could afford them! LOL Anyway I sent the seller a question to see if he could read the instruction sheet copyright date....we'll see if I get an answer.
Terry Sumner Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 Received a reply from the gentleman thanking me and apparently someone else who pointed out the error. He apologised and said he was taking that listing down.
Tijuanataxi Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 Actually I have a 60´ties kit with parts in plastic bags. This one is guranteed 100 % original, and it is from 1965....
