scalecar Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 I am having great difficulty in putting the body and chasis together in the final assembly. Is there any tip or trick that I ought to know to make the final assembly possible? Thanks!
MikeMc Posted March 30, 2010 Posted March 30, 2010 make sure the interior is square in the body....I thought it fit great!
scalecar Posted March 30, 2010 Author Posted March 30, 2010 Along that thought, you might need to elongate the mounting hole front to back a bit to get the pin behind the backlight to properly fit the interior tub in. I had to on my Yenko Camaro, but didn't have to on my Z-28. IIRC, (I built both cars several years ago), it was easier for me to fit the chassis in place front end first, & then work it into place from there. I also left off attaching the wheels/tires until after the chassis was in place. Hope these tips help! Thanks for everyone's pointers. I was able to fit the chasis and body together. I learnt doing it by opening up a new Z/28 kit and tried fitting the chasis and body together. I found that I needed to squeeze the front wheel wells to flex the chasis into the front part of the body first before I worked the rear part. So I went back to my painted kit and removed the front wheels before attempting to fit again. I am glad I did not have to give up on this almost finished kit.
