Greg Cullinan Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I sprayed some engine parts with Duplicoor flat black out of a spray can. Then I tried to touch up with Tamiya flat black brush paint and when it dries it has white stains(for lack of a better word).
Harry P. Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Could be some sort of reaction between the 2 brands/types of paint. You should have sprayed a little of the black into the cap and used a small brush for touchup... you know, use the same paint that you sprayed with. That's how I do it.
Greg Cullinan Posted March 31, 2010 Author Posted March 31, 2010 Thanks, I have to get into the habit of doing that. Like an idiot I touched it up three times hoping it wouldn't keep doing it.I will try like you said now.
MikeMc Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 I don't think acrylic is going to react with Krylon.....Krylon over Tamiya...yep... You mention white...I wonder if the tamiya didn't cover the plastic?
Greg Cullinan Posted April 1, 2010 Author Posted April 1, 2010 I tried like Harry mentioned and no problem.Well small problem, the Duplicolor I sprayed into a plastic cup melted the cup! So I guess the Duplicolor is to hot for Tamiya to go over. On 3/31/2010 at 10:46 PM, MikeMc said: I don't think acrylic is going to react with Krylon.....Krylon over Tamiya...yep... MikeMc Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 (edited) Sorry Greg I said Krylon and the mind said duplicolor....still the answer is the same you can put just about any paint over lacquer when dry. I also clear lacquers over acrylics w/o problems...I'm still curious. PS...next time just spray a bit in its cap.... Edited April 1, 2010 by MikeMc

Dragline Posted April 1, 2010 Posted April 1, 2010 Funny thing is. You can spray Tamiya spray can paint OVER Tamiya Acrylic with no ill effects. The things you learn. Bob
