DanielG Posted May 13, 2010 Author Posted May 13, 2010 So, to continue (in the hopes of finishing this someday!) I torched up some 'sheet steel' scavenged from something that was apparently painted yellow. Fitting in progress, nearly done. Detail painting after mounting.
Railfreak78 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Looking great! The rust around the yellow is very good. Oh and yes we want more
Alyn Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Nice weathering job on the yellow plate. It looks just like a panel off a piece of construction equipment that was found after it had been laying on ground for a few years.
DanielG Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 Got the rad mounted and some more 'rust'. The lighter 'spray' is from 'clay mud' splashed up. Not sure that I am happy with the way it turned out but will wait until the beast is complete for final weathering before I decide to leave it or not. Hope to get the engine in tomorrow. Thankyou for the comment on the yellow 'scrap iron', you know something is working when others can easily pick up on the scenario.
jedimastergary Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 (edited) Really liking how mean it looks I would love to cruise around in it Need to get back to mine I have a new vehicle idea and want to finish one before I start anymore and almost have all parts to do my secret build Edited May 15, 2010 by jedimastergary
DanielG Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 First up, I got rid of the grey splatter! Put the beginnings of the exhaust system underneath and mounted the engine and bolted the front end back together. It all fits and the wheels still turn!
jedimastergary Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 looks good each time you add something it gets better and closer to being a wasteland ride
RodneyBad Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 That front end looks strong like Bull. A bull bar that is Weathering looks good too. Can't wait to see what ya do to the rest of it..
DanielG Posted May 16, 2010 Author Posted May 16, 2010 Thanks guys. I have been looking at it trying to decide what bits that I want to cut off!
DanielG Posted May 18, 2010 Author Posted May 18, 2010 A pic of the underside, as far as it goes. The tires will have to be finished with acrylics, at least they slide off the rims easily so I don't have to take anything apart. I had to make a distributor and should have installed it before gluing the engine into the bay (sigh!) along with some assorted piping etc. Got carried away and forgot the proper sequence of events!
jedimastergary Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Looking good nice work on the underside finally got back to working on mine hpeit will be done soon
Wagoneer81 Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 OK, this builds getting crazy... In other words, it's right up my alley!!! This is looking wild, Can't wait to see more!
DanielG Posted May 19, 2010 Author Posted May 19, 2010 More! Managed to get some more engine detailing done. More of a headache than it should have been because of the afore mentioned mental lapse! Oldztimers I guess. A few more wires etc. to add but must wait until the body is bolted on for the last time, the firewall is part of it. Cry for help! Does anyone know exactly where the lower rad hose is connected to the engine. My best guess is that it is near the bottom of the waterpump but cannot find any pics to varify. Any help muchly appreciated!
DanielG Posted May 19, 2010 Author Posted May 19, 2010 I cannot believe that I posed that question! Must be too many late nights. Sorry for double posting.
pharr7226 Posted May 19, 2010 Posted May 19, 2010 Anchored, good for now! The rust on that metal plate looks very convincing. Nice work.
DanielG Posted May 20, 2010 Author Posted May 20, 2010 Thanks for the compliment! I enjoy doing THAT, it is trying to get that 'new car shine' that I find difficult and drives ME nuts. Meanwhile: took the saw to the body and started on the interior by distressing the seats a little.
DanielG Posted May 21, 2010 Author Posted May 21, 2010 Did a little distressing of the passenger-door and got the upper rad hose mounted.
jedimastergary Posted May 21, 2010 Posted May 21, 2010 Looks like it is coming along great nice work soon it will be done
DanielG Posted May 22, 2010 Author Posted May 22, 2010 Today, only managed to add a brace for the rad and mounted the lower rad hose. The goof that put on the bottom clamp must have reached up from underneath!
Alyn Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 You've got some really neat weathering effects going on with the engine, Daniel. Many moons ago, I steam cleaned engines and the appearance of big areas of the engine blue flaking off to reveal the bare metal underneath, plus the slightly oily look is spot on. Very nice. Nice radiator weathering to. Looking forward to see the finished seats.
