this is one of the projects that i'm working on, although i have to take a break from it following surgery on my right arm. it is the revell model king kit, and it is a tribute to the "moving violation" kit i built back the early eighties, (this model is in my gallery).

DSCF6081.jpg

the blower and pulleys are from scale repros plus. the velocity stacks are from Mr Model with fine wire mesh cut to size and inserted.

DSCF6089.jpg

the A & N fittings are from hobby design, with bolts and spark plugs from r b motion. i combined throttle linkage from s & s specialties and detail master and scratchbuilt the return spring.

DSCF6096.jpg

i decided to scratchbuild new leaf springs and brackets. here the rear springs at this stage.

the springs are just mocked up with r b motion bolts holding them in place. here is a mock up on how the looks so far. the engine is from the revell willys street rod and i will use cragar super trick ally wheels from micro nitro when they arrive.

thanks for looking.

this is the "moving violation" kit i built in '83.

after a slight mishap, it was re-sprayed in candy purple, so the colour for this build has to be purple, but pearl.

thanks for looking.

Steve,

Your mixing of the Model King Willys pickup with the Revell coupe reminds me of the one I built in '08.

I squeezed all of the chassis and engine parts from the Revell Stone, Woods Cook Willys coupe under the Model King pickup body.

Here's the links, if you're interested in looking at the other pics...

thanks raul.

i thought about using the other chassis, but i decided to use just the engine.

great looking pick-up BTW and the stance suits it.

might do a little bit of light modelmaking as i had my cast put on my arm. i was told to keep my fingers moving, so what better way eh?

Sounds good to me, Steve.

I'm home today nursing a kidney stone or two "down the chute"...so I'm doing a bit of the same...

Steve,

What parts are you looking for?

i have some general parts on their way, magneto and wire looms, that sort of thing. however, i'm trying to remember where the headers came from on my 80's model. i got my wheels through from micro nitro. just trying out some tyres that will fit, even though i have never been a fan of revell's two piece tyres.

Those wheels are AWESOME!!

It would be a shame to have to put those 2 piece tires on them!!ohmy.gif

What are the diameters and widths (front and rear) of what you need?

cheers guys.

aren't those wheels great? they do fit the revell tyres, and even though i can use the ones from the model king version,

i would have a struggle getting the rear wheels in the tyres as they are solid, plus they are a bit too shiny.

i will prevail.

hello everyone. well i managed to do some building despite my arm cast, and i have found the drums for the rear end, they are form the AMT 53 stude.

i made some progress on the engine and it is now wired with a bit more plumbing. i used a magneto from pro-tech and wire looms from a ross gibson engine. the fuel pump is from the old AMT "Mr Speed" 53 stude. the braided hose and A/N fittings are Detail Master. there is still more to do on the engine, but i'm getting there.

Man for bein' a one armed bandit (for the moment) I applaud you! You are doin' an outstanding job on this build! I'm a 1.5 handed (not literally, but disability wise  ) builder myself, isn't this FUN!! I can't wait to see more when it's possible on this build. Keep us posted! I'm waiting patiently to see more.

i have modified the drum brakes from the amt 53 studebaker, and a piece was added to ensure a better fit for the wheels. the axle and chassis was painted in the pearl metalflake purple, but it is a little difficult to catch the metalflake in the pics. this is how the engine looks in the painted chassis.

thanks for the kind comments guys.

the brakes have now been drilled for the wheel nuts, and this how the wheels will fit. the kit wheels are positive offset and would sit under the fenders, however, these are negative offset, and will extend outward in true gasser style.

the metalflake will show better when i have painted the body as the chassis and axle don't have enough surface, but yes it can just be seen.

thanks alyn.

i have done a bit of work on the rear suspension, and i'm waiting for some detail parts to turn up.

however, i have to take it a little easy as my arm has hurting a bit.
