dragnut Posted April 14, 2010 Posted April 14, 2010 Looking for any info on 49 merc. Used for early year racing thanks for all your help in advance steve.
LUKE'57 Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Steve, are you looking for a particular car or just general info? Looks like most of the stuff I have seems to suggest that most of the FoMoCo and Lincoln-Mercury racers (in Nascar's early years) ran Lincolns or the lighter Fords instead of the Mercs. Also, the pics I've seen of Mercs seem to be of the shoe polish numbered bone stock Merc with just the wheel covers taken off. Sorry to not have been more help or had better news about the Mercs.
Billy Kingsley Posted April 26, 2010 Posted April 26, 2010 There were a few 49 and/or 50 Mercurys run. Not too many. I don't have much scanned on line but go to your local book store and page through a most excellent book called The NASCAR Chronicle or The Illustrated History of NASCAR, both by Greg Feilden. Actually, it's the same book, the latter just has a padded cover. There are I think 3 or 4 different 49/50 Mercurys photographed in the book. At least two different!
