randx0 Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 I am working on a race car transporter and regular semi truck wheels are a little too big the 1 ton pick up wheels are too small and I tried the tires from the snap hummer which are close but still a little small so something between those and the semi truck wheels. the transporter is similar to those european transporters that carried about three cars from the early sixties to early seventies .think ecurrie ecosse and the ferrari one .thank you truck modelers I know your knowledge is encyclopedic on these matters so please dumb it down for me .
mackinac359 Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Several resin casters offer low-profile tires. Check with www.kitformservices.com And http://sourkrautsmodeltrucks.com/ Tim
randx0 Posted April 30, 2010 Author Posted April 30, 2010 Randy, what type of truck are you using? An AMT dirt hauler . the cab is a little on the small size but it will work for a one off hauler.
highway Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 That truck looks very similar to the Dodge L700 tractor that Linburg issued, tractor trailer wheels would be fine on it, just like this Ford race car hauler: Your truck would look better with the aluminum style wheels like this Ford has, though, instead of the spoke wheels shown on your box.

I'm a little late here but, that Dirt Hauler kit is 1/32, not 1/25. Any wheels from any of the 1/32 snap together semi truck kits would work with it.

I assume the Dirt Hauler may have been issued in the 50's or 60's??, I wasn't born until 1976. Anyway no one mentioned the scale until you did, Ben. Since I don't know the kit, I thought it was a 1:25.
Ben Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 Yeah, that kit is from the 60's. It's actually the very first truck kit that AMT made. Theres another kit that uses the same cab but has a single axle moving van trailer for North American Van Lines. These kits are very simplified, no chassis or engine detail.

I think the truck, which is a phantom body ,scales out a little larger than 1/32 but is not quite 1/25th. however the project I'm working on is sposed to be 1/25th. I found the right sized tires in an italeri kit rims will be the stock rims shoved inside some pegasus sleeves it looks perfect for the project. thanks everyone for the suggestions .I appreciate the help.
