biggrin.gif I'm gonna try this one again.

This is my WIP 1947 Aerosedan lowrider AKA The Bomb....as drawn by Jairus Watson

starting with this kit and a set of Pegasis #1109 chrome DZ wheels with a narrow whitewall

First task is to lower the suspension front and rear. The kit does have provisions to lower it right out of the box,reversed spindles in the front and blocks in the rear. As I'm using different wheel/tires than the kit I will cut down the front coil springs and play with the spindles to get the correct height without bottoming out

To drop the rear way down I will grind off the bump stops on the frame and file a shallow C notch to let the axel up

Now the spring mounts on the springs and frame need relief....do not forget the underside of the spring packs....lots hanging down that will grind!!

At this point I mocked up the body and frame with the stock wheel/tires....not bad, but I am gonna have to drop the body more....

I am in the process of milling the new wheels and axles so the track will fit the body...I am also going to drop the stock body mounts and lower the frame more.

Hubs were opened up and narrowed....gonna try to use the kits drums.....not much room.

also narrower the front axle stubs....tires will now tuck in

grinding down body mounts and notching the pan for the chassis to fit up into.....more grinding needed.

Good to see you back!! I like the work you've got going on this. I always wanted one of these kits but they were always out of my price range(in my pea brain) I'm kicking myself now cause I don't have much spare money. Yours is going to look Sweet!

Thanks Tom...after getting this kit and seeing the detail..I feel it was the best $30. I've spent in a long time...

The wheels are always a pain in the rear...but I think I've got them now.

Great start. I like what you are doing to lower it. I hope that it will sit like the picture shows. And I hope you are going to paint it like the picture. Keep us up on the build. I'm take notes so that I can build the panel that low. papafo ;)

Hey Rick.....I have some inside help on this one....so far the info is spot on and if it keeps working out it will be as low as shown!!!And yes it will be a Killer Tangelo Orange Pearl...more pictures coming!!

Time flys ...I have a gotten lots done....just not much to show...yet.

As the picture shows this one is a real grounddragger...so I am doing a body and frame drop/ channel. What the majority of time has been spent on is figuring how to do it. I started with milling some slots in the body floor pan, along with filing down the tabs where the pan mounts to the frame. This made it necessary to open up a hole over the rear end and grind out the tunnel for drive shaft clearance. Since the dremel was on I clearances the rear wheel wells to give tire clearance up top.

Now I removed the rear bumper mounts from the frame and will mount them to the body later. At this point I cut equal amounts from the 6 tabs on the body and checked my fit...more sanding of the top and edge of the rear wheel wells was needed to get things to level out .

Next I am mounting the front clip to the body so I can start the front end. The wheels are going to work behind the skirts.....it will look great....more pictures coming... Note: I've got theback done now I will do the front and when it sits sweet I will figgure out the firewall and finish the tunnel

I did find it needed grinding 1/2 off the trans mount and the front motor mount to get everything to sit level.....and the tunnel itself

Looks great, Man. I'm liking the progress. I'll be back to working on mine this week. I can't wait. I've been Jonesing to work on some plastic for the last three weeks. Keep it up.

All the lowering work came out looking good! But now, it looks like it wants to be chopped and sectioned. I really suspect it's the camera lens doing it though ... B)

Thanks guys.....I might get a smidge more in the front....but not much. I am grinding a little of the middle crossmember bolts.....I do want to cut this up soooooo bad....But this one is by Jairus...so no chop!!

I agree, the only way you could go any lower up front would be to remove the lower crossmember plate and "A" arms - shorten the mounting plate (upper portion of the crossmember) and re-install it. This would give you more ground clearance up front where you could then shorten the springs EVEN MORE! ;)

Lots of new stuff done this week.....not much to see as the sandpaper and sticks were busy but did finalize the firewall, stance, wheels , frame.rear suspension and floorpan is boxed in.

Interior is getting ready for a herd of Naugas to run thru...

The back clip and pan is primed and sealed...only a few mold lines(across the middle of the trunk .....real fun) body drop sits level so the frame got a couple of coats of gloss black will do some more motor assembly as I did build a killer set of dual pipes and turned tips

for the Hot Stovebolt Senior......

I am shooting pix but cannot get them up for a while...keep lookin........cool.gifcool.gifwink.gif

Got lots more done...doesn't look like a lot....BUT the body work is done, just a final sand and scuff then BC26 white basecoat.

Floor pan is done along with the firewall. I ended up with two slots in the pan for the frame to sit into, this made a need for clearance around the pumpkin. bottom edge of the firewall was shortened also.

Both were cut and then filled in with sheet styrene. As I mentioned earlier the front of the motor mount was cutdown along with the tranny mount, of course

this meant I had to section the radiator.....ahhhh the lowlife!!!tongue.gif

The body work started out with a shave...door locks and gas filler neck were removed then holes were filled in with sprue. The detail trim at the bodyline and

on the skirts and rear fenders was cut and installed. The bumper mounts were removed from the frame and remounted to the front and rear bumper pans, the

duals should be right below the rear bumper..............more to come!!!!
