bluemoose Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Here's a Johan 1968 Chrysler 300 curbside I just finished up. I painted it with Tamiya mica red over black, and used some Modelhaus tires.
MrObsessive Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Beautiful! Just beautiful Tom!! That's definitely one of Chrysler's finest in their "better" days! I wish I could be as prolific as you when building.........between overtime at work and my own house to deal with, I just don't have the time like I used to!
RodneyBad Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 WOW!!! That looks Fantastic Paint looks soo flawless and deep.. super job..
Harry P. Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I think that first photo could have actually fooled some people in "Real or Model"...
High octane Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Tom, what a good looking build. That Chrysler looks really SHARP!!!!
impcon Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 That is one AWESOME build! The photography ain't bad either , by the way. The color on that car is outstanding and the finish looks to be as good as most of us only dream of achieving. You're a tough act to follow..
Danno Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Tom, Everything you build and post is stunning, but this one is a first-rate beauty even among your pieces of art. Gorgeous! Thanks for posting it.
Ron Hamilton Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Tom, That one is breathtaking, to say the least. I have a '67 300 I built a few years back, that I am gong to disassemble, strip, and re-paint, as I have never been satisfied with the finish. After looking at yours, I may just have to do a color change too. It is now Dark Turquoise with a white interior. I am now leaning towards Turbine Bronze.
Modlbldr Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Tom- Beautiful build you've made there. There is a woman in town here who drives one, but her's isn't in as nice a shape as your build. They sure don't make them like that anymore. Later-
Terry Jessee Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 THAT is the working definition of "drop dead gorgeous!" It's stunning. Terry
Scalper Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Great looking model. really like the paint and the wheels on this one. great Job
Peter Lombardo Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Absolutely beautiful...as close to real as you will get with a 1/25 scale model. The Mica Red over the Black makes a huge difference. I have only one "teeny tiny" little question....I don't see the driver side rear view mirror....I know it is a minor point....did I miss it? Weren't they chrome on that car? Anyway, gorgeously righteous execution.
Tonioseven Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 You never fail to impress!! I don't believe that there's a cleaner-built version of that than yours anywhere!!!
george 53 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 What a BEAUTIFUL model of a Beautiful car! The color is RIGHT on for it too, just makes it look even CLASSIER!!! You did a GREAT job, you should be proud!
Greg Cullinan Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I dig the black cherry paint job and the model is sweet.

The wind flipped the model at one point, and I'll bet that's when it happened......bluemoose
charlie8575 Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 That looks really close to the Burgundy Chrysler offered in 1968, maybe a shade lighter, but it looks GREAT! See the chip here. To clarify, did you put that over black primer or black paint? Charlie Larkin

To clarify, did you put that over black primer or black paint? Charlie Larkin Thanks Charlie, I didn't use primer. I sprayed Tamiya gloss black directly on the plastic, then the mica red.
