Van Halen Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Hi, im new to the forum, ive built only 2 1/24 models before, a Fujimi 81' pontiac Firebird, and when i was real young a LeMans Corvette that was painted by hand but considering how young i was the decals are amazing. ANYWAY, so ive started building full on now, ive bought a 1989 Nissan Silvia, I wanted to do it in Shakotan style (low ride, deep dished wheels). So i thought it would be a nice easy build, i bought some seperate wheels for it (deep) but they were female fittings, and well, tamiya is male fitting wheels.. Soo for a week i have spent hours upon hours recofiguring the wheel/shafts fittings its been horrible, but in the end with alot of glue, toothpicks and 5 year old platic modeling putty.. ive done it so heres the story in pics.. The car so far primed and sanded, waiting for the spray paint to come from china, not happy didnt realise they shipped from there. Wheels were way too deep, i cut them down 1mm with a saw End result, looks great 20 year old plastic is a bit flimsy, it all shattered when i was messing around with them. Fixed them How i got the steering to work with the HUGE wheels.. So yeah, i have loads more images but im gona be late for work so i better cut this short.. Its all ok at the moment, depsite parts braking due to the kits age (made in 1989 japan), ive just got to wait a year for the spray paint to come from shakalak wong tong village in china hope you like it will post pics of the interior etc later
