Guest Mustang3.8 Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Hey, y'all. I picked up the Revell '57 Cadillac Eldorado. I would like to build it as a car from the movie Black Cadillac. As soon as I get new batteries in my camera, I'll post pics of the kit. I won't be using the kit's two piece plastic tires. Does anyone have a set of the Cadillac wheels/tires from Revell's '49 Mercury kit? Here's some pics of the movie car.
59-Desoto Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Looks like a nice project your about to start , I also have one of the Revell '57 Cadillac Eldorado. The resin kit from R&R might work better if you don't mine my suggestion.
Jim Gibbons Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Wow, an ambitious project! There's little that the Brougham shared with the standard Cadillac line, including windshields. You might consider kitbashing parts from the IMEX 58 Eldo, but the scales might very well not work together with the old Revell kit. I had a 1:1 58 Caddy series 62 4dr, and I was disappointed with the Imex dash. The Brougham has added "fins" on either side of the speedometer that were topped with the turn signal indicators. If you wanted to have a bit less work (but it would still be a lot of work) there is a 1/32 Cadillac convertible diecast from I believe Signature Models that could be the basis for your limo. The main problem would be cutting up the diecast body to have the correct front and rear clips, then lengthen the chassis and build the main body somehow. Just a few thoughts. If you tackle this, count me in to follow it! I always wanted to build the 58 Caddy Limo from North by Northwest. Sorry, but I don't have the Merc wheels.

Didn't know there was a resin '57 available, but that would be the way to go. The biggest problem will likely be scale fidelity, as they might not match up well. Some of the early Revell stuff (and if I recall correctly, the 57 Brougham amoung them)can be a bit wonky.
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Thanks for the ideas, guys. I looked at the R&R '57 Cadillac, but the roofline is completely wrong.

Some were I think I seen a 57 ambulance but still a lot of fab work will need to be done. Love to see it under glass , it would be a cool piece for sure.
Guest Mustang3.8 Posted June 13, 2010 Posted June 13, 2010 Thanks, Gene. I will do my best to enhance this kit. The first thing to go are the crappy two piece plastic tires. And, I'm gonna add as much detail as I can. I'm also going to get rid of the mold line where the two body halves meet.
lowriderphil Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I have wanted to do that car since I first saw the movie in '04, but I don't posses the required skills to modify the roof
