ARTEMIS1759 Posted June 22, 2010 Posted June 22, 2010 Hey, all. I am looking for suggestions for building a scale model of my rod shop I want to build "Infuzion Streemachines". I am going to start working on the model when I move to Tennessee at the end of the year. The basics are I want the front to look like the porcelin fascade Texaco gas stations of the 40s and 50s. The rear will be a 2 story steel building. The station part is going to house a hotrod parts store and automobile memorabilia. The rear will have machining equipment to include lathes and a cnc machine. Also it will have english wheels and other body tools. It will also house a wood shop and paint booth and upholstry shop. The station will have 2 Tolkeim style sight glass pumps and a porceline 40s style pump and numerous Texaco memorabilia and pop machines and othe period correct stuff. This will be my shop at its full potential. Gotta start out small. The steel building will be roughly 100x the width of the station which will be roughly a 2-4 stall. Not sure yet.I also plan to build the 1950 Chevy COE tandem axle tow truck and a 1938 Dodge tandem axle gas tanker with trailer. This will be the first diorama me and my wife have ever built. Looking at 1/24 scale. I am not sure what to use for material and where to get all te accessories including lights, outlets, etc. The bathrooms will be furnished 40s-50s style. Thanks for the ideas. This link is to the trucks, pumps and a few styles I am thinking about. I like the rounded corner style stations and it will definately have a awning from the station to the pumps. http://s275.photobucket.com/albums/jj291/ARTEMIS1759/Shop%20Stuff/
Mercman Posted July 11, 2010 Posted July 11, 2010 Here are a few suggestions for you for parts. Models by Chris, he has a lot of dio stuff. Scale Equipment Ltd, more dio stuff. See the Texaco sign thread in this area, for some signage. For the shades on your lights that you showed Plastruc has them. Check out there supply of different things. They have more then just tubing, and sheet plastic. The jukebox Jimmy Flintstone made one, he may still have it in his catalog of stuff. Hope thi helps you get started.
