Hey guys, seeing how I had some free time today I thought it would be good to give my older models some "love" and attention. They've been in a shoebox for over ten years and many of them (if not all) were built over twenty years ago ~ I'll be posting different topics for them... starting with :)

The Mustangs...

Really cool! It's great to see your old builds, and they look great! After finding a bunch of my old kits, too, it's great to see how we've all progressed in our abilities. The best part of hindsight is seeing the products that came out that made model building more realistic such as turn signal clear colors, Bare Metal Foil, pre-wired distributors, etc. I remember back in the '70s that I bought a small Testor's jar of Candy Apple Red metallic paint, and testing it on white cardboard to see how it would look. (Remembering that spray cans were a little out of my allowance budget back then.) The results were not good, so the jar went into my "paint locker" which was an old steel case from a rifle cleaning kit my father gave me. Some time later, I saw that the metallic particles had settled to the bottom, leaving the transluscent red paint on top. Bingo! Taillight red! That was one of my first discoveries of using paint in a way it wasn't designed. I then bought a jar of the equivalent green, and used it for painting tinted windshield bands (not as successfully). Fun stuff. Looking forward to more of your old builds. Maybe a "Nostalgia Build" topic should be added to the forum. What do you think, folks?

Hey Jim, thanks for the comment... I actually dug these out after seeing some of your old builds :) They're now sitting on a shelf instead of the shoebox. Ahhh, the memories! It's amazing what you remember with each model you see ~ like it was yesterday.

Good stuff man cool to see and I'm glad you have a bunch of older ones to look at. Never take it forgranted like I did until 100's were destroyed. Thanks for sharing these.

lol, Railfreak ~ these were just the few "survivors" from an earlier time in my life... I have destroyed more models than I care to remember, along with many of my childhood toys  Usually after watching the Dukes of Hazzard, the A-team or Knight Rider, hah!

Hey James that's a nice collection of 'Stangs since our budget hasn't allowed any trips to the HS for quite awhile, or ordering from any of our aftermarket friends, I've been doing the same thing with some OLD builds 10-15 yrs!..but hey I get to see all the places I've improved thru the years..I've taken some apart and "fixed" them up  it also gives me new things to photo which can be fun itself trying new shots etc... one peeve I have is a good build ruined by terrible pics. especially with todays cameras, yours look very good by the way. I just finished just such a project posted in drags if you haven't seen it, anyway's man I'm glad your havin' fun with some of those golden oldies :(

Hey James,

Nice Mustangs! Its always cool to bring out the older builds for sure. Have you built any newer 90's stangs at all? Im building a replica of my 1:1 2000 GT right now. I have a 68 model one I want to build too when I get the time lol!
