My wife emailed me from work informing me that we're going to Las Vegas (I've never been there before). Anybody know how the area is for a local hobby shop? Gotta do something besides gamble and the Chicken Ranch is closed.

FREE DRINKS from scantily-clad cocktail waitress!

I wuz there in the late-eightees, first day there, I was pawing through the phone book looking for hobby shops. I found one on Trop. Ave. When I got home, I called them to ask about a model I saw, bought it over the phone.

I don't know if it is still there. Good luck, happy hunting!

Oh, one more thing... FREE DRINKS from scantily-clad cocktail waitress!

Freee drinks?? Delivered by scantily clad women? That's disgusting! I'm going to try and convince my wife to go in July instead of having to wait for September.

If it's for free - it's for me.

Hobby Town USA, Sahara and Decatur, Henderson Hobbies on Water St. in old town Henderson are the two I frequent most often.

Scantily clad women no matter what the season here!

First, it is the Bunny Ranch or the Mustang Ranch, N.J has the distinction of Franks Chicken House. I can say in all honesty that I have not visited any of them...but I do pay attention.

Now, believe me, you really don't need to be going to a hobby shop in Vegas. They have the same AMT, Revell and Tamiya kits that your hobby shop has. I am willing to bet that the Restaurants, Casino's and Hotel Shows blow away anything in Citrus Springs (don't get me wrong, I absolutely love Florida)but come there is only one Las Vegas.

Go there and enjoy as much of it as you can. The hobby kits will wait a few days. Oh, please, have a drink for me at the first Casino you stop at....I don't gamble at all, but I love to sit next to the Casino and watch the unbelievable array of characters that stroll by....yeah, and the scantily clad hostesses aren't too bad either.....enjoy yourself, just watch out for the sun and the one armed thieves.....they both are everywhere.

There is so much going on here 24/7/365 that it will boggle the mind. Do yourself a favor though. DON'T DRIVE! wait till your third visit. You'll spend all your time looking up at the sights.

"The Strip" is CRAZY TRAFFIC! Do NOT try to cross unless in a crosswalk, sign says "CROSS", and be in a large pack of tourists... so they cushion the impact from the psycho drivers.

Yeah, it's hot.... but it's a dry heat.

With all there is to see and do in Las Vegas, I can't believe you'd spend time in a hobby shop!!!

Go to Vegas and enjoy what's unique to Vegas... the Strip, the shows, the celebrities, the great food, the nightlife, the water show every night in front of the Belaggio, etc.

You can visit a hobby shop any time! Why do that while you're in Las Vegas?

108 yesterday and today.

Even my dog won't go out.

If you are visiting, spend the time experiencing what is Las Vegas. It's the reason I moved here!

I'm my recent trip last April to Phoenix I did a flash trip to Vegas a pay a visit to these two. I can't remember the address, but they are close one to the other and very easy to find too. The Hobby Town USA is the best one among them.

You might want to check out the Imperial Palace Car Collection - here's a link to a free ticket.

They pass out free tickets right outside the hotel, too...

Also might want to rent a Viper for a couple of hours and take a drive out into the desert and see what that baby will do...

They have to put chain link across the windows? >~*culture shock*~< :D

Rough neighborhood.

There's a lot more to Vegas than the Strip...

Henderson Hobbies might be the one to focus on, I personally have never been to it though. I have been to Hobbytown, and Hobby People. Lots of kits and diecast at both. The H.T. has some real nice High end diecast, some detail parts resin, is mostly military oriented. The H.P. has close to the same. more mainstream diecast.Kit prices are about the same.

There's a lot more to Vegas than the Strip...

2 million people and counting in Clark County.

Consider this, the entire state of Nevada has 3.5 million TOTAL.

My office covers four counties. That alone is the entire southern half of the state, with the exception of the city of Laughlin, which has a satellite office of it's own.

Nye county (one of mine) is 26,000 sq. miles. Of course it is mostly bomb ranges and Area 51. :D

Thanks for all the advise fellas. I was thinking LHS to get me out of the casino and away from the one arm bandits. But that would take me away from the scantily clad waitresses too! Can't win in Vegas.

I was blown away at all the things to see in Vegas. Check out the NY, NY casino… its like walking through a slightly downsized NYC, has its own Central Park, Chrysler Building, Brooklyn Bridge, Statue of Liberty, Tugboats spraying a plume of water in the harbor, and…. Its very own Coney Island Roller Coaster, which goes both inside (over Central Park), and outside!

And that is just ONE casino! If you cannot find something to do besides feed the one-arm bandits, you may need to check yourself for a pulse! Go to Google and search things to see Las Vegas. I had also thought Oh no… Vegas! What do I do once I am broke? So I planned on only a three day stay. Big mistake! I could have spent a week! I never even made it to their downtown district.

Go! Enjoy!

NY NY was recently re modeled. Not as fun as it was but still quite an experience.

Planet Hollywood is killer. Bellagio sublime. Art Galleries, Flora, Fauna, and exhibits will keep you occupied for days. City Center is open now and Aria is IMHO just perfect. One place to go is the "M" head south on I 15 to the St Rose Parkway, exit go left one block. Gorgeous place.
