mediamonk Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 (edited) So, my first WIP has a couple firsts. This is my first shot at wiring an engine, and opening doors. The holes in the heads aren't exactly straight, but pretty good for my first go 'round. Hopefully, they will pass muster. Constructive criticism is always welcome. Edited July 22, 2010 by mediamonk
Railfreak78 Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Looks good and the wiring looks clean. Good luck with your 1st time ideas.
charlie8575 Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Nice start. I think the wiring'll look fine once the engine is in the bay. Charlie Larkin
Space Cowboy Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Hey looks a lot better than my first time.. Keep us posted..

mediamonk Posted July 23, 2010 Author Posted July 23, 2010 Thanks for the encouragement. I'm in process on spraying the body, so more pics soon.
mediamonk Posted July 26, 2010 Author Posted July 26, 2010 Here's the paint. Duplicolor Indigo Metallic on top, charcoal gray metallic on the bottom. More purple... More blue...
mediamonk Posted August 5, 2010 Author Posted August 5, 2010 It rolls...and it's carpeted. Black embossing powder from JoAnn. Should have the seats and center console, if not the whole interior in tonight.
crazyjim Posted August 5, 2010 Posted August 5, 2010 Looking real good. I used to use sewing thread for ignition wires years ago. We've come a long way, baby.
Modlbldr Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 Stephen- Looking good! I like the two tone paint and the paint work on the seats. One word of advice. Some people (including myself) had difficulty placing the body on the chassis. It seems that the bottom of the windshield hits the top of the dash and causes the body not to want to seat properly so that there is a gap betwen the bottom of the body and the chassis plate. Just a word to the wise. Later-
mediamonk Posted August 6, 2010 Author Posted August 6, 2010 Thanks for the heads up. Any advice on overcoming it?
Modlbldr Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 (edited) Stephen- If I had to do it over again, I'd try thinning the bottom of the windshield and the top of the dash each just a bit where they mate up. It shouldn't take much. It was only about 1/16 inch too thick. I was able to cram it together with a lot of force and then super glue the chassis to the bottom of the body. So, it shouldn't take much thinning. I talked to one guy who said he didn't have that problem and to another who did. It may have just been something I did different. Just a warning for something to look out for. Later- Edited August 7, 2010 by Modlbldr
